Obviously this is for the shoppers, L$30 Saturdays is a Discount Sales Event. Seraphim puts the event on. The event is a set of merchants that place a product on sale for L$30 every Saturday. Prices are dropped for 24 hours then return to normal. You can visit Seraphim’s web site each week to get a SLURL to the first shop in the day’s participants. Plus, Seraphim has a load of hunts and sales listed.
This week the sale starts at GTS Weapons… they are offering 3 melee and 3 ranged weapons you can pick up for free. GTS features bows: cross, compound, and medieval, when you walk in the door. They offer some spears and swords. As you wonder the store you find most weapons types, chainsaw, lasers, old west guns, present day military, steampunk, black powder, explosive, futuristic, a tank, cannons, poison plants… pretty much everything a combat RP’er could want. Generally, in the L$600+ range. These are mesh objects. The scripts use Raycast tech in appropriate weapons, the newer tech for SL weapons.
The region is GTS Weapons. GTS has other stores there and offers other products from clothes to tools needed to run an RP game.

Those playing with RLV will get notices that Open Collar has an update out, v6.4.0. Provided they have not turned off ‘notices’. The update is a bit different than other updates we deal with in Second Life™. The update will upgrade a range of RLV Relay attachments.
Well, for about a minute… when all the guns in Second Life broke… Now, there are work around steps and viewer fixes and… Whatever, you can again shoot those deserving of annihilation.
So, what happened? Why can’t I shoot that scumbag werewolf and save the hot mini-skirted damsel? Seems the Lindens fixed a problem in the process of building Horizons, that’s my thinking. As they expanded controls for use with Advanced Experience Tools (AET), Horizons is an advanced experience, the scripting functions needed a bit more control. So, as reported some time ago we got new SIT commands. See: Second Life News 2016 w45 and for more details Scripting.

I suspect somewhere in that process the Lindens noticed some REALLY OLD bugs, think beginning of SL time, which are now just oddities for most scripters and fixed them to make it easier (and likely make it more logically correct) to do Horizons. The result is all the weapons designed to deal with those bugs/oddities broke.
How does one find adult places in Second Life™? There are several blogs that write about places in Second Life. But, the places covered on the blogs are mostly found in the Second Life™ blog articles published by the Lindens titled: Highlights from the Second Life Destination Guide. They are interesting places. But, for those looking for something of a more adult flavor, none are likely to meet their desire.
The regions covered Linden Lab® are mostly PG rated regions. In the last article of September, the regions highlighted were rated; 3 General 17.5% (PG), 11 Mature 65% (R), and 3 Adult 17.5% (X?). Remember. Adult is not always a sex thing. Violence can push a region into an Adult rating. Since it is October and Halloween… 2 of the 3 Adult rated regions appear to have gotten their rating from violence, gore, or may be just being built on Adult rated land. RLV = Restrained Love Viewer, formerly Restrained Life Viewer. But Linden Lab® thought that use of the word Life in the name infringed on or put at risk their Second Life™ trademark. So, they pushed on those developing RLV and it changed.

What RLV is, is a set of tools built into a viewer that extends what we can do with Second Life™. The RLV capable viewers have a way for users to program/control each other’s viewers. Just as the Lab’s Advanced Experience Tools (AET) allow a programmer to; attach a HUD to your viewer, teleport your avatar, and do other things without the normal user interaction. So too, RLV allows a programmer to do similar things with your viewer and avatar. The difference between AET and RLV is in the flavor and amount of control the user gives to a third party. I’m not into being a tour guide. Other blogs do it better. But, I saw Hamlet’s post pointing us to some of Loverdag’s interesting photography on Flickr. Hamlet included this image in his post. I’m impressed enough to also include the image in mine and went looking for more information.
I see images on Flickr that are associated with Second Life avatars. But, I can’t always tell if all their images are from SL. Some SL peeps play in other worlds too. This set of images falls into that ‘unsure’ category. But, these are images from a place in Second Life™. Continue reading →
Those of us that play in the various role play and combat games within Second Life know about Combat/Role Play Meters. There are some popular ones like; Spellfire, GM, Warps, CCS, RCS, FRCS, and on and on. Some are free and some are purchased ranging from L$75 to several thousand. Now a new meter is coming out, UnityCore Engine. It looks like NoR will be changing over. From what I see it is only a matter of when.
The UnityCore meter is in alpha testing now. You can try it out in NoR. They have the meter operational in two regions; Remembrance and Evil. While the test is in operation the role play is sort of suspended in those two regions, it’s not part of your IC RP story and the testing is considered OOC. That allows players to easily talk about the meter.
