It seems the Lab is rather reserved about listing the sex places in SL. Again, understandable. And it seems there are no handy lists.
So, how do we find interesting places with fun adult activities? The World Map is another source but, It too is way less than ‘good’. Open it and type in sex, you get about a dozen places. There no regions with RLV in the name. Only about a half-dozen with the word adult in the name. Three with the word bondage and 2 with BDSM.
Most people don’t name their regions to fit the names into categories. So, this isn’t as good a resource as we could hope.
One of the advantages of using the World Map is you can see how many people are in a region before teleporting in.
So, are there any blogs or sites that provide information on where to get your kink on? Sort of.
A totally NSFW site is Second Life Adventures, Caroline… I think, is the author or at least writes the majority of articles for the site. Not quite clear who owns the site. It covers virtual world sex, in Second Life and elsewhere.
She reviews three sex games. (Comparing Sex Games: Second Life, Thrixxx and 3DXChat) Surprisingly… or maybe not so surprisingly, Second Life comes out on top… umm… in the ratings… for locations. But, loses out on graphics quality and animations. The other two are professionally made. 3DXChat has an amazing animation system. I can’t put those videos on this site because of my advertising agreements. But, OMG!
When it comes to meeting people SL wins again. SL is best for socializing and flirting. Caroline thinks SL is better because it is NOT ‘sex centered’. Who would have thought?
Second Life loses in the Availability category. I’m actually not surprised. The win-lose factor for this category centers around how people use the ‘Wanna F_ck?” phrase. In Thrixx that is about the only thing that works as pickup lines are not really necessary. The only thing to do on Thrixx is have sex. I suppose that would be a relief to many guys. But, it produces poor results in SL. In SL it often takes some effort to chat up a person and get them in the sack.
Asking if ‘You wanna have some fun?’ is not any better. Personally I’ve decided that either of these lines means the person needs someone to provide pixels and isn’t going to put any real effort or consideration into what I want.
When she gets to cost she didn’t pick a clear winner. She did conclude that if you JUST want sex Thrixx is it. If you want some chat with your sex then 3DXChat. For everything else… Second Life.
Whatever, it makes for an interesting read. But, is the blog going to get you a list of places… or names? Only as a byproduct of discussions about various aspects of virtual sex. Caroline does write a good beginners guide: Let’s Talk About Sex.
The type of site that keeps one up to date on the happenings in the adult side of SL doesn’t seem to exist. There are some sites like Second Life Adventures, The Pornstars blog, and Slut Magazine (a blog with a complicated organization/navigation) that are sexually oriented.
But, they are not into listing places. They are more like People Magazine or Vogue… They often try to come up with the ‘hawt’ photography. But, there just aren’t a lot of got good photographers doing porn. Strawberry Singh does amazing, sexy photography, call it ART, but, by no means is it porn. Most of the porn photography is by no means art. Sad.
Reddit is always a good source of user provided information. But, searching the r/SecondLife subreddit… sex is not an active subject. Nor any of the related keywords; RLV, adult, role play…
For as much publicity as SL sex gets, it is still a problem finding sex. You can find sex places but, they aren’t as prominent as one would expect. Nor are there fresh or complete lists of places. Google, Yahoo, Bing, DuckDuckGo, and others turn up way more old stuff than new. This suggests less is being written about SL’s adult content than in the past.
Our best sources for finding new adult areas are the SL Destination Guide and, while hard to use, Tyche Shepherd’s Grid Survey.
My collection of adult information for Second Life is here: Second Life Adult Content.
