Yesterday I couldn’t make the user group meeting, RL lunch meeting. So, I’m relying on Inara’s coverage and the Deploys thread for what came out in that meeting.

There was no roll planned for the main channel. My main channel home region did not get a restart. It continues to run version #18.08.10.518612.

AFAIK, the RC channels did restart all updating to version #18.08.24.519036. This is some backend change needed to get the new land auction system working. Continue reading

Blue Steel and Magnum will get a Wednesday update to version #18.07.03.517389.

  • Additional Internal tweaks
  • Animesh Support

Le Tigre will roll to version #18.06.22.516968. This is an updated Animesh version.

I thought the Le Tigre version would be the Animesh code with the updates from the current main channel version. I wasn’t too sure sure about that… Fortunately Simon Linden explained it at the Server-Scripting UG.

From the Third-Party Dev UG meeting June 1, 2018 we have some news. Plus, the usual stuff.

Severs

The main channel moves up to version #18.05.25.515749. This version includes;

  • Added server-side support for an upcoming capability to deliver estate information to estate owners and managers
  • Internal fixes

Once the Estate Tools improvements are added to the viewer, the tools will be live. The improvements are mostly about easier editing of ban lists.

KCK Harvy Dress – Bad Girls Region

The three RC channels get version #18.05.30.515812. This version has a few user visible changes;

  • Additional work to support localized Abuse Report categories
  • Shaved a few nanoseconds off a check for each object update, as part of ongoing performance improvements
  • Stopped logging a trivial message
  • Internal fixes

Not long ago we were teased with information that not all ‘internal fixes’ are security things. Some are to support SL15B surprises. Continue reading

Second Life News 2018 w22

Monday was a US holiday, Memorial Day. So, today is the Lab’s first workday this week. As of 10 AM SLT this morning there is no Deploy post. But, there is some HOT new news today. See the Other News section.

From the Server-Scripting meeting, Simon Linden: Let’s see … for server news, we had a rollback last week of the RC channels for a bug.  I think there was a post somewhere about that. We’re going to have updates out tomorrow that have that fixed … and possibly another release that has a few other items in it.  It’s all internal changes, as far as I know.

The main channel updated to version #18.04.30.515008, this is the version that hopefully improves… not fixes, region crossings. Specifically, “Updates to simulator communication protocols aimed at improving region crossings and teleports.”

Blue Steel, Le Tigre, and Magnum all get the #18.05.07.515224 version. This is the version preparing for the name change feature by adding scripting functions to LSL.

New LSL Functions:

Seems some regions are getting two restarts today. I suspect that is somewhat common.

It's your move, pawn.

It’s your move, pawn.

Simon Linden tells us, “…the servers are now doing a better job tracking all the attachments and objects you may be sitting on [when crossing a region].   The goal is to know when the region thinks that’s all done, and the viewer acknowledges it.  If that doesn’t happen, it can do better fixing itContinue reading

Tuesday the main channel updated to version #18.03.29.513939. Internal changes…

Blue Steel, Le Tigre, and Magnum will update to version #18.04.09.514272. Internal changes and… a fix for BUG-214702LSL HTTP In returning fairly frequent 503 errors.

The capability for handling offline messaging is being worked on. The cap has been improved but there is a problem with Friend Requests. If one is sent while you are offline, there is no way to accept it that works. Being fixed.

Winters back.. Run!

Winters back… Run!

As it is the underlying system that allows Friend Requests can fail in several ways, it may take some time to fix the problem as it is a base system.

Oz Linden: The test channels [on ADITI] have the new improved throttles for LSL HTTP-in that I’ve discussed on the forums (and documented on the wiki)

Rider Linden: Those [test channels] are currently available on Aditi: Umbreon and the adjoining region.  But Mazidox may have put them on other regions as well. Continue reading
