Second Life Ban List

…Flickr So, if you are into User Interface design whip up a manager for ban lists. In that discussion Profile Notes came up and how they used to be used in conjunction with group lists for handling banned people. From what I was hearing Oz apparently does not use Profile comments… I do. But, I’m not at all sure I understand what Jessica was talking about when she said they stopped working. Whatever the case is, the Lab will probably being adding a… Continue reading

Second Life News Week #27

…ld expect there to be Gacha Event Lists… there sort of are. Generally, the lists are subsets of the big lists like Seraphim’s. Mostly the lists are like Gimme Gacha Productions’, which is behind GachaLand (Map URL), Gacha Garden, and The Imaginarium! They list events for only their events at these locations. All 3 are fun locations. Notice, the locations have their events in separate months, minimal overlap. This month, July, the event is in The I… Continue reading

About 20 of the 37 locations are listed as free. If there is a cost it is referenced in the listing. The… Continue reading

Then there is SL SEARCH, in the viewer and on the web. But, figuring out what to search on and how to avoid the search spam is complicated. For instance, searching on RLV using the PLACES filter gives you a mixture of role playing places, shops, and clubs with no way to know how many people… Continue reading

Second Life News Week 17 TPD

…it harder. The real problem is one or two bad guys quickly fill up the ban list. So, good list management tools will be needed. May be building in a date for dropping the banned avatar out of the list. While I would love to see avatars that consistently get added to ban lists banned from SL automatically, any automatic process can be abused to grief legitimate users. A New Attack There are offline HTTP griefing attacks now. These force a region to… Continue reading

If one requests a higher max_agents than 200, a list with a single error message is returned. The hard coded limit is 200 per Kelly. Simon Linden says they’ll be happy to adjust the limit, after they figure out how to get more avatars in a region. However, fo… Continue reading
