There is talk of a road map for Second Life™. This ‘map’ apparently isn’t a published document. The interview focuses on where Ebbe is taking Second Life. So, I take it as a word picture.
However, Ebbe does talk about where they hope to take SL and what will happen with various aspects of SL.
Bakes On Mesh – The feature is live on ADITI. At the Beta Server UG meeting we found some of the current problems. One of which is phantom skirts. You see people with a tattoo wearing a black system skirt. They see you wearing one. But, you can’t see the skirt you are wearing.
You can take off the tat and the skirt will vanish. Put the tat back on and no skirt. At least until you relog.

Also, the bake service is slow delivering baked textures.
So, we’ll see Bakes On in testing over on ADITI for a bit more.
Region Crossings – In November 2017 Animats started a thread on region crossing problems. It is still running, now 7 pages long. See: Vehicles vs. sim crossings, why it’s so awful. The latest information and Animats testing results appear in this thread.
There are a couple of links to people using Animats fixes in their vehicles.
The Lindens are working on region crossings again. They just improved region server to server communication. A version of that change is running on Le Tigre and Magnum RC channels.
Animats main interest, avatars being half-sit – half on and half off, is next or near next on the fix list.
ADITI Inventory Sync – OS upgrades on ADITI are in place and we are told inventory sync’s are working again as a result… or something along that line.
There is apparently confusion among users on when the update occurs. The trigger is logging into ADITI. Some time after your log out the system will sync your inventory. Apparently, the sync process gets behind and an individual sync may not happen in the expected time frame. But, I think we should see it within 48 to 72 hours at most. I think mine are happening within 24 hours.
You may know grunge is a THING in computer modeling. It is easy to make perfect stuff that looks totally new. It takes some talent to age it and give it signs of wear and dirt. Those improving their creative skill seem to eventually try adding grunge to whatever they are creating.
A fascinating display of grungy, dirty, rusting things can be found in Second Life’s game The Wastelands. I’ve been exploring and playing in Wastelands, probably SL’s oldest and longest-running game, at least AFAIK. My problem is I feel overdressed. I more commonly dress for shopping, events, and clubs.

There are numerous other role play games in SL set in the post-apocalyptic eras. However, in most SL role play areas of such eras, the women make high-end call-girls look like nuns.
I don’t have the clothes for a Wastelands look… The players I have seen go for a more probably real look. So, with my 55k inventory, I have nothing to wear… so sad… …and I have a bridge for sale in San Francisco. (Contact me in-world.)
It is true I literally have nothing I think works for Wastelands style… well, with my mesh body. I have made a classic body outfit that suffices. But, I hate it. So, I’ve been on a quest to find clothes I think work and that I like. I’m not going to take on the Walking Deadzombie look. Eck! There are plenty of those playing in Wastelands that favor that look, just not me.

Fantasy Faire 2018
This is one of the highlights of the year and a major stress test for Second Life™. The day I visit Fantasy Faire is a day where my Premium Membership pays off. Being a member puts me in the small percentage of people that enter after a region is full and not so much a benny is the lag crowds induce and I get to see it at its max.
I look forward to the event. The tough decision is do I get up early or stay up late to avoid some of the crowd?

Yay, Blueberry is having a sale starting this April 13th, a Friday the 13th. Which in some cultures is considered an unlucky day. While there is no empirical data to suggest these Fridays are any worse than other Fridays, the superstition lives on.
Not everything is on sale there are some exceptions. You’ll see them listed in the promo image above.
Blueberry is popular. I love how the clothes fit my Slink body. The clothes look good. So, I expected the region to be full. The main region, Lenox & Blueberry, is limited to 20 basic account avatars plus 5± premium member avatars. The store is designed for as lag-free an experience as is possible given the nature of a store in SL. Adjacent is the region Palua. Its limit is about 30± basic members. Adjacent to Palua is Just Because. It has a limit of 25 or 30.
