Second Life: Content Creation 2017 w51

There was a Content Creation UG meeting. Medhue recorded it. He was late getting started 🙂 The sound is better, but not good. That is a problem with streaming. One of my biggest pains with video from SL meetings is cleaning up the audio. So, make do and be glad we have something.

Summary and Index

Not much new from this meeting.

The beginning part is about how the skeleton can be used, avatar and animesh. Basically, the skeleton can be rearranged. But, we cannot rename bones or reparent them.  Continue reading

Content Creation UG 2017 w50

Thursdays are becoming busier for me. I find it harder to get to the Thursday User Group meetings. Fortunately, Medhue streamed the meeting.

The audio is horrible.

Index

02:00 – Bakes on Mesh Project. Under way. No time frames. They think it is going well.

The idea they are operating on is the change for baking on mesh objects (all objects?) will be only viewer side. The idea is they will use magic texture UUID’s. If the system sees a magic UUID the texture information will be sent to the Bakes on Service.

Vir Linden points out this leaves some questions unanswered. They have yet to figure those points out. In progress.

04:25 – Animesh. There is an update to the Appearance Service in the works. As there are calculation the service has to do depending on what you have attached to the avatar. Think of it as the height thing for those of us wearing spike heels… but not limited to.  Continue reading

Content Creation 2017 w48

This week the Content Creation UG met. There isn’t a lot of new news. We are at the point the Lindens are grinding out fixes. Developers are wanting to start building animesh products. But, the state of animesh just isn’t there.

I’ve used Medhue’s video. The audio sucks. I had my volume maxed and it was still a problem for some voices. But, you can hear most of it. My summary and index follows.

0:00 – The next Animesh viewer will be a merge of the existing main viewer 5.0.9.329906, which is the Alex Ivy 64-bit viewer. There may be a couple of Animesh fixes in the release. But, primarily the change is to 64-bit.

1:17 EEP – Rider was on vacation last week. So, he didn’t get much done. He is currently moving things from the viewer into the sim host. Meaning the server side of inventory is being built. Rather than manually importing Windlight presets from other viewers and collection into the program folders, we will have inventory items. All those presets will be Windlight settings things we keep in inventory. Continue reading

Content Creation UG 2017 w45

I am having a difficult time logging into the ADITI grid. I can get logged in, but I’m mostly not fully connecting. I can’t move, walk, or teleport. Can’t even move by sitting on something. Sometimes the chat service does not connect. Voice seems to always work. With persistence, I make it in with a usable connection. Never a problem in AGNI.

So, it is a good thing Medhue got his streaming working. I’ve linked to his video. Unfortunately, he had the gain turned down and the audio is very low. So, you may get blasted by any other sound that comes on while you are watching.

There was more news from the Server Beta UG later in the day. I’ve folded that information in with the CC coverage.

Summary

The index with time marks is below this summary.

Viewer

A new version of the project viewer rolled out: Second Life Project Animesh Viewer version 5.0.9.329815. If you are running the project viewer, it will force an update. My update went as intended. Just the project viewer is updated.

Shadows now work. I think he means animesh things now cast shadows.

Animesh linksets now will allow a mix of animesh, mesh, and prims. To be more technically and grammatically correct… linksets can now contain any type of prim. I think the primary reason was the need to have a prim for the root of the animesh link set.

Also, viewer crashes were fixed. So, less crashing. Continue reading

What is Happening with Animesh? – 2017-10-26

This week the CC UG met in ADITI, the Preview Grid. The regions with the name Animesh(?) have the Beta server software supporting animesh running. So, you get to see some actual animesh in action.

You’ll also see the problem of animation appearing to speed up when the camera is far away.

This week Medhue was having problems with the Internet and could not stream. So, his usual video is not available. I was hoping to catch some footage of animesh, so I was recording. So, you get mine.

I will try a bit different format this week. Let me know in the comments if it is better, more useful, or not.

Overview

Vir is working on getting Animesh ready for release. Currently solving the problem of getting animesh to work correctly when another type of prim is the root prim.

Silent Mole, she, is the one to answer questions about the content. I have no idea how to email her or any mole. I suppose a note card via IM. Continue reading

Second Life – Beta Animesh is HERE

This week the awaited project viewer for Animesh was released. See Second Life Project Animesh Viewer version 5.0.9.329458 here.

2017 Oct Animesh Test

Release Notes:

This is the first build of the Animesh Project Viewer. Animesh is a new feature under development that allows non-avatar objects to play animations like avatars do today. Animesh is still under development, so the new features will only work in supported test regions on Aditi. See the wiki page for details on how to get started with animesh. You can report problems with animesh in our JIRA and discuss it with other interested residents at the Animesh Forum .

For more information, see our blog posting.

This viewer ONLY works on the ADITI – Preview/Beta Grid.

Lindens are answering questions in the SL Forum. Please read the thread before asking your question.

The announcement for Animesh is here: Join the Project Animesh Beta – New Support for Animating Mesh Objects.

The details are in the SL Wiki here: Animesh User Guide.

ADITI

The only place Animesh works is in the Preview Grid (click for info). If you have never logged into ADITI, you will need to try and likely fail. Then contact support and tell them you tried to get into ADITI for the first time and cannot get in. They’ll fix you up. Then you’ll be able to log in.

Tutorials

Medhue has some Bento tutorials that should help with animesh.

Otherwise, it is too early for tutorials. There are problems with animesh. The basic mechanics are working. But, amimesh’s right and left click behavior, various alignment issues, attachment issues, and Pathfinding integration have some issues.

Second Life – Content Creation UG Meeting 2017 w41

Thursday was a long day for me. Not where I could access SL. So, the Medhue video of the meeting is what I watched to see what is currently happening with Animesh. And it is Medhue’s video I’ll write an index for.

Keep your hand or mouse close to your volume control if you watch the video. Medhue streams this video live and YouTube archives it. So, there is no editing and the audio isn’t cleaned up. Both tasks are work and time consuming. Be happy that we have any video. And expect to do a lot of volume changes.

CC UG Index

01:00 – Vir Linden is talking about the project viewer for Animesh. It is almost ready. It has passed QA. The holdup is getting some test regions ready and providing documentation. There will some test content available for us to play with.

02:16 – Alexa Linden is working on getting all the support stuff finished up.

03:00 – 4 mod regions (in a square), 1 adult region (separate), all in ADITI. Continue reading
