Second Life – Are there Aliens Abducting Residents? – Adult

Don’t believe in UFO’s? This Second Life™ experience may change your mind. You most certainly will be abducted. To just jump into the experience, follow this link: Alien Abduction. If you search for it in SL Search look for Abducted by Aliens.

Abducted

I’m not sure what it is about Earth women, but aliens are obsessed with us. That makes Abducted by Aliens a very adult sexual experience. So, while I have made this page SFW, if you jump to any images, they are probably NSFW.

The owner is a long time SL resident named Patrick Playfair.  He tells me, “My 13th SL birthday is July 19th, I started in 2004…” He is the current owner of Starbase Magellan, The Abducted by Aliens Experience, The Tunnels of Zandor and the Playfair Ranch (Patrick tells me the Ranch has been replaced but didn’t mention by what ).

Second Life News 2017 w29

There was a restart this Tuesday morning. My region restarted about 3 AM SLT. The Grid Status report shows restarts running from 3 AM to 9:19 AM.

Mystical Fae Forest

Mystical Fae Forest

The main grid channel is running #17.07.11.327548. This change is the Operating System update for the servers. The Lindens say there are no changes to the simulator software in this update. It has taken some work to get the simulators working with this update. The only problem I know about is the broken song boards. It is to do with how HTTP requests are formatted.

So, most of us won’t be dealing with the change. Continue reading

Second Life – Rights Policy Change

Lately, we have had more articles and videos appearing that deal with or touch on Rights Infringement, theft. Hamlet on New World Notes posted Linden Lab Updates IP Enforcement Policies To Make DMCA Process Stricter.

Back Roads

Back Roads

He points us to a significant warning now included in the Policy statement.

If you are unsure whether you hold rights to a particular work, or whether the content you are reporting is infringing your legal rights, please consult an attorney before filing a DMCA Notice. Please be aware that under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), you may be liable for any damages, including costs and attorneys’ fees incurred by us or our users, if you knowingly materially misrepresent that material or activity is infringing.

I agree with Hamlet the purpose is more to scare than actually bite. But, it certainly opens the door for the Lab to go after those filing frivolous DMCA notices.

Second Life News 2017 w28

The server roll this morning was canceled last minute. I think it was the Package on Magnum intended to roll out. The fix was to reduce problems with the system losing connection with the SL back end. But, something in the update was overloading the SL back end. So… next week… maybe.

The Hell`s Heaven 2.0 – 01

The Lindens are unsure what they are going to do for Wednesday’s usual RC updates. The usual deploys thread is mostly useless.

From the Server-Scripting meeting we learn the Lindens are trying to get the package repaired and rolled to an RC channel tomorrow, Wednesday.

Today is Simon Linden’s 10th Rez Day!

BUG-9666BUG-100487 – These were brought up in the SS UG meeting asking for new features and data.

Second Life – Machinima Settings

Strawberry Singh has released a tutorial for those making machinimas using the Firestorm Viewer. You’ll find it here: Second Life Vlogging & Machinima Viewer Tips. It is, of course, a video but. It is backed up with a text version too, good for quick reference. Click the image to jump to YouTube.

Machinima Tips – Click for YouTube

I use both the Firestorm and Linden viewers for capturing video. I do think Firestorm is a better choice for most video capture scenarios. I used the Linden viewer as I better knew how to use its voice controls. As Learn how better to control sound I am moving to Firestorm. But, I was curious how many of the Firestorm features are in the Linden viewers.

As I worked through Singh’s list I found the Linden viewer has pretty much the same controls. But, they are way easier to get to and to use with Firestorm. If this were a ‘features’ contest, I would say Firestorm wins on presentation. Continue reading

Second Life – Third-Party Dev’s UG Meeting 2017 w27

Very short meeting, 20± minutes. Nothing new. Just status updates.

The first subject was the JIRA spamming. For now, the JIRA is locked down, no comments. There is no idea how long it will take to build a spam block.

Viewers

The Alex Ivy viewer is out as the main viewer. It will update soon as a couple of problems were found. The Lindens are working on the launcher that figures out if it should load the 32 or 64-bit version of the viewer. They are also adding a setting to allow the user to override the automatic detection and force install of one or the other. Continue reading

Second Life New Avatars 2017

Everyone is writing about the new Bento Avatars the Lab has added to the Viewer’s Library of starter avatars in inventory. This is the popular video for showing the avatars.

Alicia Chenaux made the video and points out the problem of a new user selecting a full mesh avatar and changing clothes.
