Tech and Space 2016 w/47

I like science and math. Science is the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behavior of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment. To practice science one needs observations and experiments.

On the observation side, Nov 19th the NOAA GOES-R weather satellite was launched.

Launches and later positioning are not as simple as one might imagine. Getting into a geo-stationary orbit at the correct place is no simple thing. It is expected to take 16 days to maneuver and test the satellite before it is in the right place. Then a year of testing follows. Depending on the results and the health of other GOES satellites this new satellite will park over either the east or west coast of America.  Continue reading

The PC Mime… I’m NOT PC

Strawberry Singh has an interesting post up with an interesting meme: The Love Trumps Hate Challenge. The basic idea I took away is to be loving and living what you believe, do something. But… her underlying philosophy and how it relates to the real world is missing. But, the title definitely reflects her creativity.

The point is to be uncomfortable

The point is to be uncomfortable

My grandmother’s generation was the last to have an education in history and civics from a public school. I was educated in history and civics at home. At times, it put my parents and I in great conflict. My schools never taught the subjects. It appears neither did Strawberry’s. So, how differently do we see things? Continue reading

Second Life and the US Election

For months, I’ve been debating people about Clinton and Trump in another arena. I voted against Clinton. With 17 candidates on the Republican side, I thought I would vote for someone. Didn’t happen.

You Say Potato

You Say Potato

For the last eight years, I’ve watched polls, the big kid polls… Pew, Rasmussen, etc. Brexit, the last few US elections, and other elections in various countries, all are proving the polls and media wrong, again and again. So, what’s with the polls and media?  Continue reading

They did what? To who?

Daria posted on Mesh Body Addicts: If I’m honest… Seems some designers are yelling at her for not doing what they want. Apparently it is or verges on: abusive. She closes with the comment, “We are human. We are flawed…. but we are also defined by our actions. What are your actions saying about you?” Then admonishes us to, “Be kind to one another.”

Have you ever wondered why we aren’t kind and considerate? Does it seem social interaction in society is devolving? Do you really think the cause is the Internet?  Continue reading

WikiLeaks Email Dumps

As the American election nears, less than a month away, WikiLeaks has been releasing hacked emails. There is a lot of interest in and about the emails. Not a lot of media coverage of the actual emails. WikiLeaks say they vet the emails. But, are they true, fake, hype? I posit that if the emails were false, fake, or hype they could be denied. If they were one person’s statements, they could be denied.

We know commonly some emails go to out dozens of people. Government officials and politicians are often communicating with hundreds of people and those people are often forwarding the emails to even more people.

So, to deny an email that one sent and expected to be received by unknowable hundreds, if not thousands, directly or via a forward, risks being caught in a blatant lie. Blatant to all those that received it and from personal experience know it was sent directly to them by the stated author and many others that have reason to believe the forwarded copy they received is authentic.  Continue reading

Is America Losing Its Free Speech Rights?

Most European countries have already given up their free speech rights, at least as Americans see free speech. I suspect most Europeans don’t even realize how much they never had and how much they have lost.

The Federalist has a good article on the sad shape of free speech in America: The Coming Free Speech Apocalypse. I am certain most have no idea how much Hillary and the Democrat Party are against free speech nor that they have plans for limiting speech in the Democrat platform. She has to hate repeatedly being called out on her lies. Continue reading

Truth and Tragedy

In the US race is being played to divide the country. Watt’s Up With That just published data published by the Washington Post, which they took from national crime stats compiled by government agencies. So, there are facts presented in ways you probably haven’t seen. Also, see data from FBI Table 43, Arrests by Race.

Percentage of races killed by police.

Percentage of races killed by police.

Saying this another way:

  • For every 10,000 white people arrested for a violent crime, 38 white people were killed by police (± 2).
  • For every 10,000 Hispanic people arrested for a violent crime, 21 Hispanic people were killed by police (± 3).
  • For every 10,000 black people arrested for a violent crime, 21 black people were killed by police (± 2).

This information is generally hard to find. It goes against the agenda pushed by liberals and progressives. The media, and that includes Yahoo News and Google Search, ignore it or bury it making it hard to find. I often have to switch search engines to find articles I’ve read in Drudge and know are out there. That more whites than blacks are killed by police is a fact people react violently to. Have you asked, why?
