Strawberry Singh has an interesting post up with an interesting meme: The Love Trumps Hate Challenge. The basic idea I took away is to be loving and living what you believe, do something. But… her underlying philosophy and how it relates to the real world is missing. But, the title definitely reflects her creativity.
My grandmother’s generation was the last to have an education in history and civics from a public school. I was educated in history and civics at home. At times, it put my parents and I in great conflict. My schools never taught the subjects. It appears neither did Strawberry’s. So, how differently do we see things?
An important civic duty. If you can’t decide who to vote for and skip voting others will decide who gets elected. We got Trump. How does that work for you?
Berry suggests using an absentee ballot… in many places it is changing to mail-in-ballots. Being absent has nothing to do with the new mail-in voting. I suspect this is a minor missing part of Berry’s knowledge of the system. Mail-in is a choice about how you choose to vote. The idea is to make it easy to vote.
Many states are registering you to vote when you renew your driver’s license, to make it easier.
I don’t have a problem with easy. But, Berry never mentions being WELL INFORMED.
Mark Twin (1835-1910) said, “If you don’t read the newspaper, you’re uninformed. If you read the newspaper, you’re mis-informed.”
In our world it is a case of whether you pay attention to the national and local news. If you choose TV or Cable you get to hear one side of the news. Media bias is now well documented. If you listen to the radio talk shows you get the other side but only one side.
There is no truth in political advertising. So, a politician’s web site, commercials, and mailing are not required to provide truth. Yes, there are laws that require some measure of true be met. But, they are not enforced. Have you ever complained to your local election board? It is an experience you won’t forget.
A good example of biased reporting is the Hillary Email Issue. I think everyone on both sides knows Hillary violated “email rules”, as it was euphemistically called. Also, most understand that FBI Director Comey came out and said ‘Hillary is innocent’. Only he didn’t say that and it wasn’t ‘email-rules’ but Federal Law that she broke.
The video of the Comey statement is here. At 12:30 Comey begins to give the agency’s recommendation. The words are, “…the agency believes no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case.” Comey specifically mentions intent as not being provable and part of the reason for the recommendation. But, intent is not a part of the Federal law: 18 U.S. Code § 2071 – a & b. She broke it. Very simple.
- 18 U.S.C. § 1924 – Unauthorized Removal And Retention Of Classified Documents Or Material
- 18 U.S.C. § 793 – Gathering, Transmitting Or Losing Defense Information
- 18 U.S.C. § 2071 – Concealment, Removal, Or Mutilation Generally
- 18 U.S.C. § 1519 – Destruction, Alteration, Or Falsification Of Records In Federal Investigations And Bankruptcy
- 18 U.S. Code § – 1505 – Obstruction of proceedings before departments, agencies, and committees
- 18 U.S. Code § 641 – Public money, property or records
- 18 U.S. Code § 1031 — Fraud against the United States
- 18 U.S. Code § 1343 – Fraud by wire, radio or television
- 18 U.S. Code § 1346 — Definition of “scheme or artifice to defraud”
- 18 U.S. Code § 371 – Conspiracy to defraud the United States
- …and then there are multiple cases of lying under oath to Congress.
If you haven’t heard all of these being discussed, your news source sucks, you are not informed. You don’t have to believe she is guilty. But, you should have an understanding what she did that brings up each of these laws.
If you accidentally speed the law says you shall not drive over the posted limit. (Period) Your intent is not at issue as the law simply says you shall not do that. It doesn’t matter if you intended to or not. The same is true of Hillary’s handling of documents.
But, that is not the reporting most Americans heard. The Huffington Post carried an article summarizing it: Evidence Hillary Clinton Broke Federal Laws. But, did you see that article or one covering the same information?
If this information is new to you, then you are not a well informed voter. (Period) IMO you are NOT qualified to vote.
I think you should be well informed and then and only then vote. I am against tests for any level of political knowledge. Politicians would find ways to abuse such laws. So, I have to allow the uninformed and misinformed to vote. I think such people are propaganda pawns.
2 Speak and Support
Berry wants us to walk up an huge our fellow Americans… Oh yeah, she doesn’t live where pick-pockets, sick people, and predators live… some dirty old man I don’t know walking up to hug me is likely to find out I trained in martial arts.
Stopping bullying… yeah, speak up, call a cop, defend the weak… get physically involved if you have to.
