The main channel updated to version #18.04.30.515008, this is the version that hopefully improves… not fixes, region crossings. Specifically, “Updates to simulator communication protocols aimed at improving region crossings and teleports.”
Blue Steel, Le Tigre, and Magnum all get the #18.05.07.515224 version. This is the version preparing for the name change feature by adding scripting functions to LSL.
Seems some regions are getting two restarts today. I suspect that is somewhat common.
It’s your move, pawn.
Simon Linden tells us, “…the servers are now doing a better job tracking all the attachments and objects you may be sitting on [when crossing a region]. The goal is to know when the region thinks that’s all done, and the viewer acknowledges it. If that doesn’t happen, it can do better fixing it.
As of April 30, 2018, a new update is rolling out. It was once upon a time to be called the Spring Creator’s Update. I am not sure what happened to that name. Whatever, the update will bring your version number up to 1803.
Here it is May 7 and I am still running Version 10.0.16299 Build 16299…
This version will have the Timeline Feature. This feature will enhance what you see when your press Windows-key + Tab. Try it. Mine shows the programs I currently have running. The newer version will show the current programs and previously run programs, opened docs, and viewed web pages.
A future version of this feature is to include a history of what has been happening on all your devices…
Bakes On Mesh – The feature is live on ADITI. At the Beta Server UG meeting we found some of the current problems. One of which is phantom skirts. You see people with a tattoo wearing a black system skirt. They see you wearing one. But, you can’t see the skirt you are wearing.
You can take off the tat and the skirt will vanish. Put the tat back on and no skirt. At least until you relog.

Also, the bake service is slow delivering baked textures.
So, we’ll see Bakes On in testing over on ADITI for a bit more.
Region Crossings – In November 2017 Animats started a thread on region crossing problems. It is still running, now 7 pages long. See: Vehicles vs. sim crossings, why it’s so awful. The latest information and Animats testing results appear in this thread.
There are a couple of links to people using Animats fixes in their vehicles.
The Lindens are working on region crossings again. They just improved region server to server communication. A version of that change is running on Le Tigre and Magnum RC channels.
Animats main interest, avatars being half-sit – half on and half off, is next or near next on the fix list.
ADITI Inventory Sync – OS upgrades on ADITI are in place and we are told inventory sync’s are working again as a result… or something along that line.
There is apparently confusion among users on when the update occurs. The trigger is logging into ADITI. Some time after your log out the system will sync your inventory. Apparently, the sync process gets behind and an individual sync may not happen in the expected time frame. But, I think we should see it within 48 to 72 hours at most. I think mine are happening within 24 hours.
Facebook has abandoned the ideas of free speech and diversity of thought. We know that from a recent speech given at a publishing and technology conference by Campbell Brown, Facebook official. He announced FB would be censoring news based on its internal biases.
Would they really do that? What might they decide to censor? Well, measured usage statics from numerous sites and sources show they already are and what they are censoring. Thinking is, FB is just getting started.
All Hail the King
A good report on what is happening data-wise is on the hardest hit site, The Gateway Pundit’s coverage Zuckerberg’s Announcement.
The new media site The Outline started the reporting on the impact of Facebook’s changes. Once people started realizing how pervasive the impact is the excitement started.
We have a Deploys post this week! …and I stayed up long enough to read it. Still semi-sick and sleeping a lot.
Seems the main channel is not getting an update and will remain on #18.04.13.514504. This is the version with; A fix for BUG-214702 and Internal fixes.
What else is there
Blue Steel will get an update to #18.04.20.514703. This version has a couple of changes needed to support the ability to change our names; New LSL Functions: llName2Key and llRequestUserKey.
Le Tigre, Magnum, and Snack will get version #18.04.30.515008. This version has the changes to improve regions crossings and teleports. These are changes in how region servers talk to each other. No new user-side toys.
No Deploys post this week. Rider Linden at the Server-Scripting UG told us, “So, The internal fixes on the RCs from last week should be rolling to the main grid this week. Snack is getting a new roll that we hope will address some of the region crossing issues.
Release notes are on the way. We’ve made some changes on the back end with respect to message reliability that we are hoping makes the transitions a bit more reliable.”

If I understand… (if I’m not making sense, that is because I’m not making sense. Medical drugs and lack of good sleep. Bronchitis.) The region crossing related change roll out on AGNI in the Snack RC regions.
Rider, “Also, the name functions are available on my testing regions on Aditi. (Sylveon, Leafeon, etc).”
I think these are the new functions for names from UUID and UUID from name. I doubt you can change your name.
Mazidox Linden, “There is a bunch of regions around a region called “Est Full2” on Aditi that have the relevant code to test region crossing.”
