I think we all know we have to check any news stories we read in the media. What you may not know is we now have to check the ‘supposed’ media fact checkers. Here is an interesting compilation of the fact checkers incompetency: 4 Recent Examples Show Why No One Trusts Media ‘Fact Checks’

Servers
There seems to be a change in the Server updates side of things. Mazidox Linden is now writing the Deploys notice in the SL forum and conducting the Server Beta UG meeting. I like his style in handling the meeting.

The main channels are being restarted today. But, just restarted. No new package.
The RC channels will get a new package. But, as today is the first working day of this week, Mazidox did not have the release notes for the new package. We should see that later… today? this week?
Second Life: Adult Area – Bumrose Marina & Club
I bounce around Second Life™ looking for interesting adult places. I found one. A really interesting woman had The Bumrose Marina & Club for adults listed in her picks. I teleported there. Arriving, I thought it was a small half region island with lots of places for spontaneous romance, sex, surfing, swimming, and boating.

However, Bumrose is a full region and has a sister region. As you explore you find it goes on and on. Looking at the world map… yikes… it’s like a hundred regions (literally) hooking together a giant archipelago. It isn’t all Bumrose. Most of the regions’ cousins are part of the Fruit Islands Estate. Blender: Textures – Quick, Easy
I watch a lot of texture making videos. I’m not so good at it. I’m still trying to ‘get it.’
I came across this one: The FAST Method for Creating Realistic Materials & Textures || Blender Tutorial I’m including the link because there are a number of handy links on the YouTube page.
The CrazyBump normal maker talked about in the video is a US$99 retail app. There is a demo video on the site. It is impressive. The site is VERY small, almost nothing to read. If you an analytic personality, it isn’t enough.
However, CrazyBump has been around for a while. I first downloaded it in 2013, v12. It is now version 122.
Second Life Forum to Shutdown
There is an announcement in the SL Blog telling us the Lindens are going to set the SL Forum to read only. Why? To upgrade the forum, blog, and everything… as best I can tell.

See: A Fresh New Community Look is Just Around the Corner!
Starting February 21, Tuesday, the forum will lock. They expect to have the upgrade done by 2/27 or sooner.
Second Life: Third Party Developer’s Meeting 2017 w7
There are 2 Maintenance viewers showing on the Alternate Viewers page. One with render changes (Love Me Render Viewe), one everything else (Maintenance Viewer).
The non-render change viewer has about 44,000 hours of run time logged. It currently has a better crash rate then default viewer. But, it isn’t enough hours to know how stable it actually is or if problems are hiding. That usually takes about 100,000 hours.

But, if the viewer continues to do as well for the next couple of weeks, it may roll out.
Work is progressing on 3 fronts in the Alex Ivy 64-bit viewer; process management changes that alter how updates work, Work on the Mac side to get Havok (SL physics engine) support, and a new structure for updating CEF, the video player used in the SL viewer.
