Second Life: Too Little Sex?

Canary Beck has done a great research piece on whether or not Second Life’s reputation is that of a home for sexual perverts or not. Her research provides objective data on how Second Life™ is perceived by the Google Search Engine, which is about as objective a source as one can find.

The short answer is, no. The research and proof is rather convincing, but not totally definitive. It is the best I’ve seen to date. I think it is worth a read and it got me thinking. As you read you’ll be exposed to the concepts of confirmation bias and illusory correlation as a possible explanation for why some believe Second Life has a reputation problem.

Second Life: Black Dragon Viewer 2.4.3.1

There have been a couple of updates to the Black Dragon Viewer since I started using 2.4.2.6. NiranV is up to release 2.4.3.1. The changes fix some minor problems, adds Windows 10 support (Win 10 coming the end of the month), and includes the change to how we can use clothing layers.

RLVa is still broken…  but, that’s not a Black Dragon issue, if I remember correctly.

Second Life: Alchemy Viewer 3.8.0

A new release of the Alchemy Viewer is out, Alchemy Beta 3.8.0. This not new news… I’m just catching up. There is not much one can say about what is new in Alchemy as they aren’t telling, deciding to let it be a surprise to users. Right.

The release notes read:

  1. Up to date with Second Life 3.7.30
  2. Included Experience Tools Project
  3. Lots of other new sh!ts

But, there are a number of Alchemy changes if you scroll down. One interesting one is the ability to export a group membership list to a CSV file. That could be useful. Exporting ban lists for use in other groups might be more useful. Also, added to the inventory panel filters is an option to filter LINKs, the basic entry used in the Outfits folder. Third party viewers allow LINKs to be created outside the Outfits folder. So, I can see a need to search for LINKs.

Second Life: Photography Tools

On Flickr I came across an interesting image of a photographer’s viewer screen. I used the image in a previous article. But, in that article I didn’t say anything about the information Kerri Fegte included in the image description. You may not have seen the information, which I think is good enough it is a must read for any photographer shooting models.

This is a wonderful collection of tools. Add some of these and the Black Dragon Viewer or Firestorm Viewer tools and your talent… you’ll be making pro quality snaps. You’ll have to find you own model with photogenic legs.
