Group Ban – Baker Linden is working toward getting Group Ban running grid wide in ADITI (preview/beta grid). He has a handful of small bugs to get fixed. Then he’ll figure out if he is going to be able to go to and RC Viewer or Project Viewer.
If all goes well in ADITI it will soon roll out to AGNI, the main grid, as an RC Server package. At that point people with large groups will be thrilled to get the feature.
Materials Functions for LSL – We currently cannot script material changes. People have been asking for Linden Scripting Language (LSL) functions to work with materials since before materials were released.
Today in the Server Scripting User Group Simon Linden said getting those functions implemented was pretty high on their to-do list. That still gives us no idea when we might see them, but it does give us hope that it’s going to get done.
Mona Eberhardt asked about getting’s LSL functions to control the textures used by projectors. I think that would be really handy. Simon was looking to see if I was a feature on their list of things to do. He didn’t find it, so I think a JIRA is getting filed in it soon will be.
The projector feature would make for some awesome slideshow stuff.
See: SCR-163 – New PrimitiveParams flag: PRIM_PROJECTOR. Reading this item you’ll find that the function llLookAt() points the projector away from the llLookAt() target. So, there’s definitely some fixing to be done to implement this feature.
Advanced Experience Tools – We don’t hear much about these tools. Asking Simon about them today the answer is there working on. And it seems one of the big aspects of the current work is in figuring out how to roll them out. I suppose we can speculate that working on such an aspect of the feature suggests were getting close to some kind a rollout. But, Simon says he’s really not up on the project.
Sun Data – if you used the sun position functions you know that trying to find the sun’s position is wacky. The math is bizarre. When asked about it today Simon said he had looked into it once upon a time. He classed it as a mess. His belief was if you want to work fixing it the changes would break lots of stuff.
This suggest to me that when I can a see any changes in these functions anytime soon.
Group Chat Fixes – Simon is still working on fixes to group chat. The more a website the more he finds to fix. In the previous two caps UG meetings we’ve run sort of pile on tests to help with his work. We found some strange problems in group chat. Some stunts result in immediate pop-up error. Others slam the viewer a full stop 2 to 10 seconds. Hopefully he’ll have all those fixed soon.
Double-Click Teleporting – This came out today. I use double-click teleporting. One of the problems I’ve run into is when I attempt to double-click teleport in the region owner has disabled teleporting. The result is I pushed back to the designated landing point. That is really annoying.
Simon says that’s a bug in their list of things to fix. The group discussed how the future might work in the future.
When you walk into a region you’re not balanced to the designated landing point. So if you double-click teleport from a nearby region should you be balanced to the landing point? Probably not.
In general is thinking is when first coming into a region by a long-distance teleport you should arrive at the designated landing point. But subsequence teleports within the region should not bounce you back to the landing point. But, there are role-play areas in games where that would be the desired action. So, the action may have to be controlled by a region setting.
In any event the double-click teleport is on the list of things to be fixed.
SCR-382 – llTeleportAgent() and llTeleportAgentGlobalCoords() can break any script in any attached object that contains a change event.
Simon tells us this bug is fixed and will be in the next server release candidate. You can currently find the fix implemented in the ADITI region named Annelie. The region is public access enabled and has scripts enabled. So, you can test your scripts there.
