There no rollout to the main channel this week. None of the release candidates made it through testing.
Release Channels
Blue Steel and Le Tigre will get a new package for testing. This package addresses the disconnection issue many have been experiencing. (BUG-2564) This is the one where numerous avatars in a region would suddenly be disconnected. It also included LSL scripts using HTTP connection being disconnected too.
Plus there is a crash mode fix.
Magnum will continue to run the package from last week: The Interest List improvement for faster rendering of a never be for visited region. The only change to this package is the adding of the disconnect-fix-code also running on Steel and Tigre.
SL10B Contest
The Lindens have announced a contest as part of the celebration of SL10B. The first place prize is a Homestead Region for four months. Second and Third place winners will get a homestead region for 2 months.
You’ll find the rules and guidelines here: SL10B Celebration Snapshot Contest.
SL10B Avatar
There is a commemorative avatar for SL10B. These are only available until the end of June. Get one in the Market Place. They are unique in the respect that this avatar uses the new Materials to create detail in the avatar. So, to really see this avatar you need a Material Viewer, which is the current Beta Viewer.
Voting
The SL users will vote to select the winners. We are told:
Community voting to select the image which best represents the contest theme begins on July 1, 2013, at 12:00 A.M. (PDT) and ends at 12:00 P.M. (PDT) on July 17, 2013.
Subject to the terms and conditions herein, the image with the most Kudos is eligible to win the prize of a homestead for use for four (4) months. In the event of a tie, Linden Lab will select the final winners. Subject to the terms and conditions herein, the images with the second and third most Kudos are eligible to win the prize of a homestead for use for two (2) months. In the event of a tie, Linden Lab will select the final winners. Eligible winners will be notified on July 18, 2013 via in-world chat or notecard.
Entries that violate any of these guidelines will be disqualified.
It appears that voting will be by Kudo in the forum. If you notice on the ‘Rules Page’ there are tabs; Home and Entries. The entries are posted in the Entries section. Voting users are allowed 1 Kudo per image. The image with th most Kudos is the winner.
Destination Guide
This birthday celebration will be scatter across the grid in addition to the main set of regions. To facilitate finding those region the Lab has created an SL10B category in the Destination Guide. So, get your entries in. The guidelines for that are here.
Additional
The Lab is saying there will be additional hunts and prizes for Premium members. So, you may want to continue your membership or join. Whether it will be worth it or not… I don’t know.
SL10B Site
This celebration is mostly user run. The main site for keeping up with what users are doing is the SL10B site.
The logo you have here is for the Community Celebration (SL10BCC) – which is the redient-run event.
The Lab’s activities are entirely separate and have their own logo – as per the blog post about the bear / photo contest.
Pointing this out as the Lab is a little sensitive about SL10BCC being considered something they are organising.
Good point.
