Because of the Monday holiday in the USA, server roll outs are pushed back one day. The news on the server roll outs is a bit fuzzy as Simon Linden was not available at today’s user group meeting. Not has Maestro Linden made a Deploys post. But, Andrew Linden tells us the package on the RC channels this last week is to be rolling out to the main channel on Wednesday.

Andrew added a fix that is in that package fixing a grief mode where really big objects could push avatars out of a the region. Faux rotating kfm megaprims don’t knock people out of the sim anymore. Andrew specifically targeted those prims.

There is a recent video up of an interview by Engadget  with Oculus VR’s Palmer Luckey and Nate Mitchell talking about Oculus Share.  13 minutes.

It seems the task of sharing has come up for the Oculus developers. Consider. Have you thought of how often we take screen captures to share with others? How would you do that while using the Rift?

There is also the challenge of how will you use stores, find Rift games… all the basic tasks, in and out of game, we perform when preparing to, playing, exploring, and sharing games. This will apparently some like KOINUP, but for Rift users and developers.

So, the question has to have run through some minds regarding how sex would be with the Oculus Rift. A lot of people seem to play the game of ‘breaking in’ new things. When I first thought of it I guessed people would be dodging when Tango Lolas went by.

Well it is not just running through some minds. A company in Irvine, California named Sinful Robot is developing a ‘sex’ game for the Oculus Rift: Sinful Robot is hiring people and moving ahead in developing an erotic game that will have as its basic quest as sexual gratification. AND this has been in progress for almost a year. Nobody told me…

Universal Market Place

Daniel Voyager and Hypergrid Business (HB) both have articles out about the Kitely Grid’s market place going live. This is news and a good step forward for the OpenSim grid. You’ll find the Kitely Market here. But, I am reading all these articles on how great this is going to be and going: Really!?!

I’m not up on the in’s and out’s of this new market. I am not using it. While I watch advances in OpenSim I haven’t been logging into OpenSim grid much during the last year. But, I do know some of the problems regarding merchandise sales in OpenSim and I’m not seeing them discussed or reported. So, I’m going to take some shots.
