Google’s Plan for World Domination

This isn’t domination in the sense of the Brain’s (Pinky and the Brain) world domination. But, it is about the world and Google’s ongoing effort to dominate the market for ‘WHERE” type questions. I think this gives one an interesting view of where we are headed.

Second Life Viewer 3.6.12 (284506)

This viewer is dated Dec  4 2013 04:55:18 (Second Life Release) in Help->About… But, it just updated on my machine today as a required update. Meaning I needed to install it before logging in. I still find that annoying.

But, the release notes for Second Life Release Viewer version 3.6.13.284757 just popped up on the wiki. So I expect to see another update soon.

Materials Use in Second Life

Oz Linden tells he came across some numbers on Materials use in Second Life.  Quoting:

Over half of regions and around 10% of avatars now have at least one thing with Materials properties. I’m not sure how that [avatar] number was derived… I’m guessing worn, but I don’t really know.
