Second Life Games: The Bushido Challenge

Second Life has a number of in-world games… we probably need a better word than game, which is nebulous and ambiguous. Whatever the case, Honour McMillan has found, what I’ll call, a puzzle-adventure game called The Bushido Challenge.

She has photos and a bit of the story. It should give us something to do while we wait for UNIA to open. You’ll find this game in-world in Soyokaze.

It is a challenging game. If you like puzzles, like the Myst game, this will be something I think you’ll enjoy. I have yet to figure out how to use the talking monkeys to get hints. Its fun. I have yet to solve the game.

There was one player solving the ladder puzzle. He could see and find the parts but not the assembled ladder. I assumed he needed to relog. I suggest you wait to assemble the ladder until you find the hint about monkeys…

My Blog Week 17

Yesterday my Internet was down. It will be down again April 29 to May 3. I’ll still have access to the net via my phone. I even have the WordPress plugin that lets me manage and post from my phone. But, it is far too tedious to type or dictate articles on my phone. So, it is unlikely I will be posting during that time.

Also, I’ll be traveling this week and next week. So, my posting will be intermittent. It will probably be May 8 or so before I return to more regular posting.

This morning I’ve updated the WordPress software and database. It has lots of nice changes for WP admins and authors.

Second Life: Smile Shape Tutorial

Alicia Chenaux has made her first video tutorial. It is a pretty neat idea that she presents. You can see it here: Smile Shape Tutorial. Iris Ophelia pointed me to this from her article in NWN: Learn How to Make the Perfect Smiling SL Avatar Shape With This Video Tutorial.

If you have ever used the built-in smile, you know it is pretty hideous. But, Alicia shows you how to fix it by adjusting your shape. In her tutorial she demonstrates how to fix the built-in smile emote.

Second Life: Layer Limits Viewer

RC Layer Limits Viewer version 3.7.28.301019 updated this afternoon, after I published my viewer updates. :/

My viewer attempted to update to this version. I had an in viewer notice that a new version had downloaded. I clicked to have it go ahead and install. That was a mistake. It could not install and I started getting a series of install problems. I finally canceled out of the install and restarted the viewer.

On restart I got a notice that a problem with the update had occurred and was given a link and instructions to download the viewer and install the download. The manual download and install worked without a problem. The viewer launched and logged in without a problem.

Second Life Viewers Update Week 17

The Main Viewer has updated to 3.7.27.300636. This version was the RC Maintenance release with a load of fixes (Release Notes). This viewer first appeared as an RC Viewer 3/18. I found it to be a good improvement over the previous main viewer, 3.7.26.299635. Some of the improvements are targeted at performance.
