Niran Funk Lifting

…this situation is funny… I can empathize with Niran clearly remembering my bouts of depression and periods of grieving. So, it’s not like I’m unsympathetic. But, seeing human nature in play in others makes it easier to see the silly and humorous aspects that make us human. I wish him all the best. …is he staring at her… ummm… chest, that a good word.

Today Niran is more into things and has obviously taken the time to take a serious look at the Exodus viewer and compare it to his viewer. He has posted a new article explaining what he found and how he perceives the match up. See: Exodus vs Nirans.

Exodus vs Nirans

Niran sees his viewer as providing a better render of Second Life. He could be biased. He has a comparison set of pictures. I have a small version of the images above. Please don’t try to use them for making a comparison. Visit Nirans blog and take a look at them. Once there click on one to bring them up in full size. Take a close look at them and see what you think. Niran didn’t say which image is from which viewer. That makes it interesting figuring out which is which.

Niran Viewer Dies of Broken Heart

OK… ok… that is a bit of hype. It seems Niran is suffering from a lost lover. Been there and done that. Dealing with grief is a downer. On top of that the Exodus Viewer Team has just released a viewer with a load of new graphics features. See: Exodus Viewer Beta 6 (12-01-02) Released Review.

The result of these two events has left Niran a bit down. So, chase him down in world and shoot him… no… no… not really. I couldn’t resist. But, a thank you note and a bit of sympathy may brighten his day. Find NiranV Dean. He has done a nice job of providing a neat viewer with awesome shadows.

You can read his announcement here. Obviously he is a bit depressed and down. So, the viewer may be discontinued, go private, come back later, or just continue. It just depends on how long it takes Niran to recover.

Nirans Viewer Releases Deformer Version

Niran has added Qarl’s Mesh Deformer code to the Niran viewer 1.03. I tried it out and played with mesh. There are some things I learned.

Fit

The size of the mesh does matter. The Deformer does not move all mesh to the outside of the avatar. In some cases I found small mesh clothes were inside the avatar. Also, large clothes left a space between the avatar and the mesh.

An explanation of the video is below in the Video section.

So, I guess the base avatar that one designs mesh from is going to be important. I’ll have to do some experiments to see how using a personal shape avatar works compared to using the base avatar.

Niran’s Viewer Finalized Review

Niran has released the ‘Final’ version of Niran’s Viewer. That is final as in finally complete, not the last. Niran’s blog has an article that is worth the read. I’ll mention the main points, but I won’t cover all the details.

Niran’s Niche

Some viewer developers want their viewer to be the best viewer. Kirsten’s was bleeding edge technology for the best rendered image. Henri’s Cool Viewer seems to be about stretching the life of V1 viewers, which in Henri’s case is probably more about the user interface than the code. Linden Lab’s viewer is about being easy to learn. Firestorm is a power user’s viewer, imo.

Nirans Viewer 1.00

Niran wants to create a viewer with the best render image. For Second Life I think that is an awesome goal. I may be a bit more visually oriented than most. So, I like high quality graphics. I loved exploring Blue Mars. But, I need more computer to run at the quality I want. My duel core just isn’t cutting it with my new graphics card.

NiranV Releases a Prerelease

I’m confused about what ‘prerelease’ means. Whatever, another version of the NiranV Viewer is out. This is a short review of it. The download is only 33mb, but the download took 10 minutes. Testing my connection I find it has slowed down. My download speed has dropped from 31mb/sec to 2mb/sec. :/ I’ll have to sort that out.

Niran's Unique Login Screen

Download and Install

Other than being slow there is nothing special about the download. You’ll find it here: Source Forge Nirans Viewer Download.
