I’m just getting around to looking at last Friday’s (1/16) Third Party Developer’s meeting. See the video here.

Viewers

The viewers in the RC pipeline are; VMM, Maintenance, and Experience Tools.

The Experience Tools Viewer is somewhat held up by backend issues, which are being worked on now. So, there are no changes to this RC Viewer.

Viewer Managed Marketplace – nothing new in this RC Viewer.

Hover RC Viewer – (download) Vir Linden was telling the group 1/16 this new Project Viewer was in QA. Vir was thinking it would be ready in week 4 and the RC test version of the server side did make it to a main grid RC channel in week 4. Due to Wiki changes and fixes the RC downloads page does not yet have this viewer available for download. Inara in her coverage has a link in: SL project updates 2015 week 4/1: Avatar Hover Height along with examples of the features and instructions for using it.

You must be in a region that supports the feature for it to work. For now that is only Blue Steel regions. If the region does not support the feature the controls will be grayed out.

Life is busy for me. New work, new lovers… not much time in the SL world.

Servers

We got a roll to the RC channels this week. None to the main channel.

The RC package is described on the forum in Deploy for Week 1/19. This is a bug fix and new feature package. BUG-8223 is a picture upload issue that most of us have never seen. The new feature is the new HOVER feature that adjust avatar height in relation to the ground and objects sat on.

This Tuesday and Wednesday we will have rollouts to the main and RC channels. The main channel will get a maintenance release running on the RC channels. The main things in this release are:

Fixes BUG-4949 Cannot manage block list with certain object names
Fixes BUG-7850 Experience tools: “Script trying to teleport other avatars!” script error appears incorrectly
Fixes BUG-6789 Spelling mistake in llGodLikeRezObject
Minor server change to help configure the texture and mesh CDN

There was no roll to the main channel today. No packages were pending in RC.

RC Channels

Once again all three channels will get the same package. Wednesday will see a maintenance package roll out to the RC Channels.

Tuesday saw a roll out of a main channel update. This update is the tweaks to the way servers work with the Content Delivery Network. Simon says they didn’t change anything with this update. They just added the ability to make changes more easily. I assume that means they added settings controls to the simulator console.

Next week a new RC package will roll out.

This Thursday 11/27 there will not be a Beta Server User Group meeting. This is due to the US holiday, Thanksgiving.

We haven’t had any server updates running in the RC Channels. We have had a version running in RC that has tweaks to CDN settings. Those tweaks are rolling out to the main grid tomorrow, Tuesday, Week 48.

According to the Deploys thread there are no new changes being made to any RC channel.

A no change window opens Wednesday 11/26 and runs to Sunday 11/30.

Cocoa Bugs

There are no Cocoa bugs for Mac users. Just ask Lindens or Apple engineers. Come on, who are you going to believe, them or your eyes?

But, there is hope. Cinder Roxley is working on those issues, retina resolution support for the viewer, mouse look, and second screen support. So, we may see a fix at some point. This assumes a fix is possible and Cinder seems to think it is.
