Second Life – Content Creation UG Meeting 5/27/2017

This is an interesting meeting. Vir Linden announces some of the projects the Lindens are going to be working on. I have some pre-meeting coverage and then some post-meeting footage. The video is long. I did not time compress this video. There is quite a bit going on in chat. At normal speed, it is hard enough to keep up with. So, I decided not to speed it up.

I also provided a topic index/summary of the video. You’ll find time marks in the text. [Maybe a few minutes before the video finishes uploading and becomes visible here.]

Animating Breasts – You can animate breasts. But, the animations suffer from the buoyancy and cleavage appearance sliders getting messed up.

Medhue may have a workaround. He thinks we might be able to animate the attachment points to animate breasts without breaking the sliders.

Second Life: Bento Dance

I thought this was neat. The hands are the only only Bento change I noticed. We are still a bit of distance from Bento facial animation. This is pretty neat. I think it impressive animation. You’ll find the animation is from Abranimations (Map URL). Second Life: Content Creation 2017 w20

RL is complicating my being at the Content Creation meetings. Fortunately for me, Medhue is live-streaming and recording the meetings. The video is here: Medhue @ Content Creation. My summary follows.

Vir Linden had nothing new on viewers. He often tells us about what he is doing with a specific viewer.

This week Vir has been working on the Animated Objects. Currently the work is in the nature of proof of concept. Next week he will start to look at server side changes that will be needed.

A total trivia bit is: Vir uses a SL Birthday Bear for his animation test subject.

Second Life: New Things

I missed the Content Creators UG meeting this week, lunch and drinks with friends. So, of course this is the week we got word from the Lindens that we are getting new shiny stuff, a new project: Animation Extensions.

The new extensions will extend how and what we can animate in s couple directions. First is what is being called Supplementary Animations. These are for the new Bento skeleton.

If you don’t animate in SL or haven’t been around forever, you probably don’t know there used to be just the avatar default animations (think duck walk) and the animations we played via script. Our Animation Overriders (AO’s) worked by the viewer continuously asking the server what out avatar was doing (walking, sitting, flying, etc.) and then telling the server which animation to play.

Content Creation UG 2017-04-27

This video time compresses no-voice sections to reduce the total run time from 70+ minutes to less than 45. The Time Marked outline is below. We get a few hints of possible coming features.

Prior to the meeting officially starting, Medhue Simoni and Jessicaann Wrigglesworthwere were discussing how Appearance Sliders in Blender-AvaStar work with animation.

The meeting starts at TM: 03:00.

04:30 – Vir Linden working on the HTTPAssets viewer to reduce crash rates. Fixing a couple of bugs. New version out to RC this afternoon (Thursday – v5.0.5.325825).

Content Creation UG 2017 w16

On Thursdays the Content Creation UG meets at 1PM SLT in Hippotropolis Campfire, AGNI. (URL) Medhue Simoni and I are both recording it. You’ll find his video here: Second Life Content Creation Meeting 4-20-17. (760p) He is playing with streaming. So, you can watch the meeting live streamed in his channel.

This video is my recording. (1080) It is missing the first 15 minutes. But, the silent portions of the video are time-compressed to lessen run time. Plus a bit of post meeting discussion is included.

I do the video to experiment and practice with Adobe Premiere. The big difference between the two videos is I use a SpaceNavigator and Medhue is using a mouse.
