Indie Teepee – How Designers Do It

This is a fun interview. Lots of laughing. I think there is little editing, so the audio has an enjoyable, natural, impromptu ambience. But, it is hard to tell about the editing as good editing can retain the feel. That it has the feel and it comes through is the enjoyable part.

09:30 TM – Tech – What software do they use for their creative work? ZBrush (US$795 – 14 Day free trial), 3D Max, Maya, TopoGun (US$100 – I think this is the one) , GIMP, Photoshop (a new PS version is out), Substance Painter (US$149/$300 or $19.90 x 16 months), Blender (free). ZBrush is the main tool for Rucy.

12:00 Time Mark – They start to talk about Render Weight. It is obvious both of these designers are concerned about user experience. Paolla talks about using Render Muting. It seems she uses a setting of about 100k.

18:00 TM – Should we have Render Weight in promotional material? Rucy is already start

19:00 TM – What could make designing/creating better?

25:00 TM – Discussion of music starts.

32:15 TM – Back to talking fashion. Talking about Paolla & Rucy and what they wear in RL and SL. This is a fun part of the interview.

37:45 TM – Talking about how they picked the music for the podcast. First up: Love – Your Mind and We Belong Together

43:00 TM – Back to discussion – 43:30 Stones sound track starts – Under My Thumb (1966 – OMG).

46:50 TM – Back to discussing music – 47:15 Kak – Everything’s Changing

51:40 TM – Back to interview – About what they like in SL.

54:30 TM – Closing gems of wisdom…

I enjoyed the podcast. The opiate high from the Narco helps, but I’m taking a pretty small dosage so I doubt it has much effect… If you are into fashion and clothes design, I think you’ll enjoy it.

Rucy Byron has a web site where he gets into a bit more about render weight. See: !APHORISM! A Brief Discussion About Render Weight. I am rather pleased several of my articles on render weight are listed. J

I am even happier to see Rucy listing Render Weight in his blog articles on new clothing releases. See: Shiny Shabby.

    • Thanks for saying. Opiates are great for pain, but not so good for concentration or attention to detail.
