Adult Roleplay 2012 Event Planned

The number of regions designated as Adult has been growing. They now make up more than 12% of all regions in Second Life™, according to Grid Survey. With the coming appearance of SL on Steam some anticipate more adult role players will be coming into SL.

Nikira Naimarc contacted me recently about plans for welcoming role players coming from the Steam gaming system. The idea is to provide an exhibition and conference for the large community of adult roleplayers in Second Life. It is hoped the exhibit can be used by owners of adult roleplay regions, roleplayer groups, manufacturers of RP equipment, and RP service to present their offerings. Continue reading

Dang, Another #SL Closing

Today I saw the announcement that the Sensual Stoneworks regions are closing. If you have never been there, this is an adult set of regions that have a large Adult Toys market place. The Stoneworks toys are not going away. They will be in the market place. But, the regions are closing.

Sensual Stoneworks New Mall

The region is worth a visit just to see the build. The creatives at Sensual Stoneworks are talented. That talent shows in the rebuilt region. Last time I visited I think it was 4 regions. Now it has been condensed into a single region. The lag is low, at least it was when I visited. Be sure to look at the sky.

The region has provided the Mall and various role player areas. Things there range from sensual to wildly outrageous. My friend Sec and I spent hours laughing at some of the toys and how we looked playing with them.

Humor AND Dark Sex?

This article is an interview with an adult content maker in the BDSM community.

Everyone likes sex… I think. Mixing it with humor is like chocolate with cherries for me, way better. Some prefer a much darker experience. And that darker part leads me to Myrylyn Shinn and her sometimes humorous and always dark Frenemies.

Myrylyn Shinn

I’ve only done a couple of interviews from the interviewer’s side. If you are a regular reader, you know I am more into news and tech oriented. But, I need a change from time to time. I play in some dark RP games. That and my coverage of Adult Content caught Myrylyn’s attention. Her role play and toys are very dark and was curious if I would cover her creations for the adult community. So, in this interview I hope you can experience the talented and fun Myrylyn. You will see the interesting mix of her humor, dark role play, and toys in her Frenemy Fashion blog.

I want to point out this is NOT a paid promotion.

I first knew of Myrylyn when she IM’d me and asked if I wrote about adult topics in my blog. As you know, I do. I try to keep things safe for work. I do have articles about Zindra, where I live, and Adult Content. I think I’ve kept this safe for work. I’ve labeled links that lead to NSFW pages to avoid surprises.

Myrylyn IM’d me wanting to talk about and show off things she is making for the adult community. At first I’m thinking penises… which I generally find interesting. So, sure. Show me yours… I suppose meeting a woman and imagining she has a collection of penises on display somewhere is pretty much a Second Life thing… or maybe that’s just… never mind. Whatever, I had no idea what I was getting into, I teleported over to talk with her.

When I arrived, Myrylyn and her friend Thessally were building-testing a new Myrylyn toy. The ball gag may have had something to do with Thessally having little to say. As I rezzed I was wondering if I had gotten in over my head. The toy Myrylyn was building is The Frenemaker (NSFW). Yikes! A change of my mental gears was needed.

Second Life Adult Content News Week 15

The Adult Content User Group has pretty much evolved into a joke and is poorly attended. It supposedly meets the 3rd Monday of the month now.

Dream Promenade

However, activity in regard to Adult Content is alive and well, pretty much growing into resident driven private groups. But, the Lab is still involved to some extent in some areas. The Adult Hub is a cooperative effort between a private group and the Lindens.

#SL Adult Content News Week 51

Not much excitement in the ACUG… The forum is becoming interesting. A few discussions going on there. A few topics came into the ACUG meeting.

Visitor Hub Counts

There is a grid wide problem of visitor counts not working. This is true in Adult Hub areas too. You can see this in that the Destination Guide will show zero people there and the map will show people in the region.

I thought it funny...

Destination Kiosk

An idea has been presented to have an in-world kiosk that uses a feed from the Destination Guide. The idea is considered important because Third Party Viewers may not have the Destination Guide. So, some form of in-world guide would be helpful. Presumably these kiosks could be placed in hubs.

New #SL Feature llTransferLindenDollars

Today Kelly Linden posted about a new function added to the Linden Scripting Language:  llTransferLindenDollars(). The highlight of the feature is its ability to return the transaction result. You will know if they got the money, refused it, or whether it failed.

See: Upcoming LSL feature: llTransferLindenDollars and transction_result

This function is currently in testing on the ADITI or Preview/Beta Grid. It is in regions; Bethel, Fortuna and Sandbox Wanderton.

This can greatly improve the reliability of vending machines in Second Life. All those failed deliveries we have been dealing with may soon be handled by new vending machines.

Oskar was talking about it in the Beta Server Group today. He said, “…it is major Moundsa. Kelly has been working hard on it. Do all merchants a favor and hop on to ADITI and try it out.”

#SL Adult Content Week 45

The rumor is circulating that a group called the Freedom Continent has won the ‘contract’ to provide gateways to Zindra, the Adult Content continent. I have yet to see any formal announcement of the winner. Venus Petrov points out the gateway privatization in a post in the SL Forum and brings up another interesting point. She asks if this privatization of gateway hubs is a pilot project that may be extended to gateway hubs in PG and M rated regions. You can read the thread and see what people are thinking. If you are a shop owner and this is a pilot, this will affect you.

Along with that rumor is news from Viale Linden that searches using the term ‘Zindra’ will no longer return the Linden owned gateway Zindra (region) as the #1 result. I guess because they changed the region’s name. So, privatization is underway.

In the 11/7 Adult Continent User Group (ACUG) meeting Blackcrow6667 Garmes spoke. I was late getting there as a preceding group meeting ran over, or at least I stayed over because of interesting conversation. According to Black the first part of the proposal Black was making is to build a learning center. The idea is to teach people to build in SL with Prims, Sculpties, Mesh, and to script. I wonder if it matters that the Zindra Help Vortex does the same sort of thing?

Zindra Expo Meeting Summary

Unfortunately I have RL commitments for each Saturday noon and missed the meeting. However, the meeting transcript  is posted. So, I looked through it to get the meat of the meeting. The hope is that we can create a group that can have influence with the Lab. We seem to ne having problems with the new management doing more and more things in secret and then springing them on us. The result is land owners are leaving SL for other grids. This meeting is about building an influential group to improve communication with the Lab. You may want to follow it to how it does or does not work to pattern a group after it or avoid its mistakes.

Facilitator

Ginette Pinazzo instigated the meeting and facilitated it.

Ginette runs a city called Future Femdom, in the Zindran region of Popke. Also she is one of the continuing officers in the Zindra Expo group. She is generally active in developing Adult Content within Second Life.

Purpose

The underlying purpose of the meeting is gathering those of like mind interested in promoting various adult activities and businesses in Second Life and the Zindra Adult Continent. That coincides with the purpose of the Zindra Expo Group.

Adult Content in this context is about what interests adults. That includes but is not limited to sex.

Gathering Land Owners and interested residents is an effort to gather a group that can work with Linden Lab and discuss the SL user interests with the Lab. A primary focus is gathering the Land Owners as it is felt their voices will carry more weight with the Lab.
