Second Life and Virtual Worlds
I am hearing lots about the Oculus Rift VR Headset. Some think interfacing it to SL would be a great addition to Second Life™. If you have seen the granny video, you have an idea of how impressive Ocular Rift can be.

One of the preview testers for Firestorm Viewer has leaked a link to a new feature of the viewer. We may see it in a coming release, may be Sunday or some time in the next week or two. Watch the Firestorm blog.

I’ve run into several Google problems over the last couple of days. But, Google is saying they have it fixed now.
Cloud Party has a blog. Today they are announcing they will be blogging weekly to let users know what is happening in the CP world, at least from the technical side of the programmers. They will be talking about fixes and additions made over the past week.
This announcement says they are starting a membership drive type of thing. They will be focusing on getting new users. I suspect we will see lots of banner ads floating around the net. It will be interesting to see how that goes.
This week they added a ‘people’ search.

Tuesday saw the roll out of the HTTP Package Monty Linden has been working on. This ran on all three RC channels last week. The package has to do with changing the connection protocols used between your viewer and the Second Life™ servers.
A few people are reporting an increase in PING time. I haven’t seen it yet.
Some are complaining about region crossings. Simon Linden discussed crossings with us in the meeting.
