Last week (7) saw an unusual rollout for an update with a security fix in the under lying Linux code.
Peace..
This week (8) there is no roll to the main channel. There will be a roll to the RC channels with all three getting the same package; RC BlueSteel, LeTigre, and Magnum. There is a Server crash fix and some minor improvements…
As expected, there are no server updates this week, probably next week. My home region has not been restarted since 2/2/2016, two full weeks. The region seems to be working OK. The server stats shown in the Viewer Statistics Panel all look good.

Not much visibly happening with viewers. But, we may see a viewer promoted this week.

I’ve been using the Linden, Firestorm, and Catznip (R10) viewers recently. I have less problems and better performance with Catznip. That is not a test result. I haven’t done organized testing. But, my subjective experience is Catznip is behaving better right now.
I do see texture thrashing when using Catznip… less of that with Firestorm. It takes some time to get there, generally over an hour for me.
This meeting ran a little over 20 minutes. It was mostly status updates.

RC Second Life HTTP update Viewer version 4.0.2.310660 – This version has the HTTP, Co-routines, and Vivox updates. The HTTP updates were driving up the crash rate so in this version they are disabled.
This past week a Third Pary Develpoers’ meeting was held. Not much in the way of NEW news, but lots of updates… except for one big block buster.

The Maintenance RC got prompted Friday morning and is now the main SL viewer: 4.0.1-310054. If you have been having problems and low FPS this release should help. This version is the second main viewer with the CEF. It also has lots of fixes.
Servers – No roll to the main grid this week. Maybe next week. The three RC channels all got the same update, which is mostly the addition of; BUG-10575 Feature Request: llGetObjectDetails() constant OBJECT_TOTAL_INVENTORY_COUNT and BUG-10646 Feature Request: llGetObjectDetails() constant OBJECT_PRIM_COUNT.
There was a Third Party Developers’ meeting this past week. Of course Project Bento was a main topic and Vir Linden was there to talk about and respond to comments in the Feedback thread of the forum. So, what did we learn?
Can I tell you a little secret?

The Second Life Valhalla Viewer version 4.0.0.307894 was promoted to default viweer status Thursday 12/17. This viewer has fixes for Bento, which mean little as Bemto animations and avatars are not yet allowed on the main grid. It also changes from Webkit to CEF – Chromium Embedded framework.
Co-Routines or Second Life HTTP Update Viewer version 3.8.7.308134 is merging with the Second Life Vivox Viewer version 3.8.7.307744 and will reappear in RC as a single viewer named… we don’t know.
