What’s going on here!?! This Fameshed region is the worst lagged sim I’ve been in for ages. Time dilation is often well below 0.5 and seems to hover in the .4 to .8 range, Sim FPS <30 and hovers in 15 to 35, Physics FPS is 2 to 5 FPS below Sim FPS.
love sick
Lag is horrible there. The region is running the new increased population package. So, as a Premium I’ve had no wait getting in. But, the max pop I’ve seen is 43. I haven’t seen much change in lag with 39 or 40+ population.
I was reading a thread in the forum where the Opening Post (OP) was asking how to deal with scripts. They went somewhere and found out they were wearing too many scripts and were threatened with ejection. Been there done that… it’s been awhile.
About Land – Script Info – Firestorm
Of course, there are the devices that will tell you your script weight. (Weight Scale – free) These generally provide an aggregate weight leaving you to try and figure out which scripts are heavy and lite.
However, the viewer has features you can use to make life easier. In ABOUT LAND (FS: World->Parcel Details – LL: World->About Land) there is a button (bottom-left) labeled Script Info. That pens a panel with the tabs; REGION and AVATAR. (see image) You can see it lists the script weight for each scripted item you are wearing.
NOTE:2020/05 – Some time ago the Avatar tab was removed. You will have to use the method below to get script info.
You can also right click the ground and select ABOUT LAND.
This week the main channel got an update, 17.04.24.325754. This is the update that provides increased population per region and gives premium members an advantage getting into crowded regions.
Listen to your heart.
The Blue Steel RC channel gets an update with unspecified Internal Fixes, 17.04.26.325839.
The Le Tigre and Magnum RC channels get an update that is described as: sim logging improvements.
Every so often I get on the subject of free speech. Second Life™ is said to be inhabited by more Liberals and Progressives than Conservatives and Traditionalists. But, no one knows, at least I have yet to see an objective study or assessment. I can see that we have more demonstrations of liberalism in SL. But, Conservatives have historically been the silent majority. Thus, the problem figuring out the actual demographics.
Google can’t tell about information requests from China
Second Life is not a free speech area. It is a private area owned by Linden Lab(R). Speech is governed by the ToS. We are free to say whatever within those limits. It is up to the Lindens to decide what speech exceeds those limits. Their decision is final, there is no appeal.
In RL free speech is suffering from fake news that is confusing some people and adding extraneous information some mistake for facts. Part of which is that awful thing ‘Hate Speech’, which is an interesting spin on “Hate” and the prime tool for anti-speech proponents.
I think the recent Berkley riot and threat of riot are examples of people not understanding the US Constitution and the principle of Free Speech nor its importance nor how to protect it nor why.
This video time compresses no-voice sections to reduce the total run time from 70+ minutes to less than 45. The Time Marked outline is below. We get a few hints of possible coming features.
Prior to the meeting officially starting, Medhue Simoni and Jessicaann Wrigglesworthwere were discussing how Appearance Sliders in Blender-AvaStar work with animation.
The meeting starts at TM: 03:00.
04:30 – Vir Linden working on the HTTPAssets viewer to reduce crash rates. Fixing a couple of bugs. New version out to RC this afternoon (Thursday – v5.0.5.325825).
The main channel did not get an update. Bummer. I was hoping the increased population change would roll across the grid.
I looked to see if Fantasy Faire has the RC version with the feature running. Nope. I had a lot of trouble crossing regions so, I thought the new version might be the problem..
The County Girl
The RC channels Blue Steel and Magnum are being updated with a new version of the increased population package: 17.04.13.325429. Le Tigre is getting a package with internal tool changes: 17.04.21.325687.
