The main channel got last week’s package of simulator fixes. The 3 RC channels all get  the same but new package on Wednesday. This package is also about simulator fixes.

This breaks the every other week rollout pattern that has been building up.

New Second Life Promotional Videos

Canary is a voice in this new round of Second Life promotional videos. The Lab released these via their YouTube channel. Several sites have talked about the new videos.

Age limit: 13… really!?! Yes… Ebbe says the Lab has the experience to know how to separate content and keep the young safe. I suppose that means regions/experiences will have a rating and those will work with the viewer to limit access and exposure. Since users will be less anonymous by the time they have significant build rights this should an enforceable concept.

This also tells us we are going to have sex in Sansar, aka SL 2.0.

Second Life Bits Week  29

I think we all have questions about Project Sansar, aka SL 2.0. On the 14th a forum thread was started titled ‘Ask the CEO.’ There is a load of questions and answers.  See: Ask the CEO.

Ebbe is not talking about the avatar skeleton. Answering a direct question about whether skeletons other than the basic avatar will be available he answered ‘say tuned.’

Viewer Managed Migration Starting

Linden Lab has announced that migration from the existing Second Life Marketplace to the new Viewer Managed Marketplace (VMM) will start July 23, 2015. See: Viewer-Managed Marketplace Released: Migration Begins July 23, 2015.

Migrations will start at 9PM PT and run to 9AM the following day. I expect this to take days, but may be not. You will get an email when they start and finish. Merchants with a large number (5,000+) of products will get advance warning of the pending migration.
