The main channel has updated to version #18.09.04.519319, labeled a change in logging.

The RC channels remain running the same version, #18.09.04.519319.

Simon Linden at the Sever-Scripting UG meeting said the RC roll is still undecided. That wasn’t noted in the Deploys thread. So…

I am not sure, but I think the operating system of the simulators and backend machines have been being updated. Some feel this may have affected various HTTP connections. Simon Linden says this update includes lots of low level updates and changes. So, it is possible.

Graham Linden spoke a few words about Mac versions of the viewer. They are looking for a solution now. Since a number of Lindens are Mac fans, it is MOST likely there will continue to be a Mac version.

If you don’t know, the concern is from the SL viewers being based on OpenGL graphics. Mac is dropping OpenGL support in the near future and going with a proprietary graphics API. The Lab has to figure out what will work with the viewer and Apple.

Graham also said, “FYI, alpha shadows on rigged mesh should be in DRTVWR-466 (Render Pipeline #2); I’m sure there are edge cases to be fixed so please bang on it.” If I understand correctly the alpha’d sections of mesh will stop casting a shadow as they do now.

This means mesh trees will cast pretty shadows… well, tree like shadows.

Oz Linden says in regard to EEP (Enhanced Environment Project) they are ‘furiously’ fixing last minute bugs. Yay!

Joe Magarac (animats) is working on region crossings. As of now he thinks the problem of failed crossings when operating a vehicle is in the viewer. He is working on correcting the problem using the Firestorm viewer. Wish him luck with that one. Or send money…

Black Dragon 64x – Update 3.2.8 – NiranV calls this an ‘improvements’ update with some fixes and more user interface improvements.

You’ll notice the ACI numbers in this version have changed. Seems NiranV made a mistake in his modified calcs. While the numbers will be smaller, they still reflect a different idea of complexity than is seen in the other viewers. I think the Dragon’s numbers are more realistic than others, but how much so… I won’t even begin to guess.

The reporting of complexity is apparently more granular. This makes it ideal for designers evaluating their designs. Rather than an aggregate number as seen in most viewers, Dragon now has a panel that itemizes things.

As it is now, in Linden and Firestorm I put on and take off things to get an items ACI.

Cool VL Viewer-1.26.22.19-Windows-x86_64-Setup – 2018-09-15 is the latest update.

A Firestorm Animesh viewer is probably now out to their beta testers, according to what Whirly was saying at the last Beta Server group meeting (9/13). You can visit the Firestorm blog to find links to info on getting in the Firestorm beta testers group.

We will start to see animesh around the grid. You have to run the Lindens’ Animesh RC Viewer to see it animate. Otherwise it is just a something, dinosaur, bear, cat, whatever statue moving around the grid. To see the arms and legs move you have to have the RC viewer.

RLV 2.9.23.2 – Marine Kelley has a new version of the RLViewer out. There are some basic view fixes and some RLV fixes.

Marine is deciding her viewer will be the hardcore RLV version. Feedback was running 10 to 1 in favor. Maintaining two versions is way more work. So… this viewer going to be the serious RLV viewer.

  1. “We will start to see animesh around the grid. You have to run the Lindens’ Animesh RC Viewer to see it animate.”

Or you can use the Cool VL Viewer that has been implementing animesh support for months and is closely tracking LL’s Axon viewer code changes…
