Google Chrome Failing

I use Google’s Chrome. Recently I’ve been gettin lots of “Oops Chrome Crashed” and “Unresponsive Page” errors. Also my browser seems to go into slow motion. It seems event my New Tab pages crash. So, whatsup?

Chrome Dying

A bit of Googling and I find others are having the same problem. there is a thread titled: I can’t kill a chrome process that has become unresponsive. Then I realize this problem started in 2009.

For most this is a problem that occurred when using Windows 64-bit. I’m using Vista 32-bit. Both Vista and Win7 users seem to encounter the problem. The problem runs from 2009 to late 2011. I’m having it now, so I suppose I could say it runs to now.

Reducing Prim Count

Some time ago I saw a forum post about reducing prim count by changing from the old prim count accounting to the new Land Impact cost accounting. Many people think the Lab was screwing residents over with the new Land Impact system. They simply haven’t figured out how to use the new system to their advantage. It is possible to use the new system and reduce your prim costs.

Prim Saving Tutorial

Prim Size

When mesh objects and Land Impact were rolled out along with them was a change to the maximum prim size. The max size went from 10 meters to 64 meters. This allows one to replace over six prims with one prim. That is a possible 640% savings in prim costs or looked at another way, you get 640% more prim coverage in a region for the same price…

Second Life Mainland Rezoning?

Second Life is full of rumors. If you can’t find one you like, make one up. A new rumor to me is the idea that Governor Linden is going to rezone the mainland. I can’t find any reason for the rumor or even a source of it. I first came across it in the SL forum in a post by Gingir Ghoststar.

Gingir Ghoststar

Gingir Ghoststar has ranted about rezoning the mainland a couple of times. She has one of the more interesting feeds I’ve seen in SL. (See Gingir Ghoststar) Her collection of SL posts is here. In her Flickr bio she writes: “Gingir Ghoststar is my alter ego in Second Life. I am Gingir Rocks from Gameinatrix.com and co-host a daily video game news web cast [called] Lunch with Gingir and Cori.” I found it under Gamer Girls Radio. The audios are about 45 minutes long. The show is girl oriented and is about gaming in general with Second Life stuff. The fashion is sexy, as is the role play things they get into (Cori is a host with Gingir). The blog and fashion is the kind of stuff I would recommend to my BFF Shayla. Just read the URL hiding under the last link. 🙂

#SL Received Items Folder – Update III

It’s hard to know what the latest information and plans are.  It does look like the Commerce team is pushing ahead on Direct Delivery. Check this post by Commerce Linden @ 03-13-2012 12:00 PM: Direct Delivery Launching March 21, 2012.

Received Items Folder

There will be a Received Items folder coming with Direct Delivery. However, they say it will only be used for items coming from the Market Place.

llGiveInventoryList() will not change. So, your Magic Box that sends things to the Objects folder will send things to the Objects folder. Nor will it break RLV’s ability to send items to an #RLV folder.

#SL Server-Scripting News Week 10-11

There is not much happening. The Release Channels had the Inventory Apps Package running. That package is not going to roll to the main grid. So, there will be no roll to the main channel.

llGiveInventoryList()

A change to llGiveInventoryList() began  impacting people last Thursday, as the Release Channel rolls were delayed one day. Those using RLV and selling RLV related products started to encounter problems when in the Blue Steel and Le Tigre release channels.

Server-Scripting Meeting

By Sunday Kitty and Marine, movers and shakers of the RLV features, had found the problem and filed a JIRA. It got lots of community support and scorching flames. By Monday morning the Lindens realized they had broken a significant part of Second Life. The result is this Wednesday, 3/14, the change to llGiveInventoryList() will be rolled back.

Dolphin Viewer 3.2.10 (23198) Released

Today we got a new release of Dolphin Viewer 3. If you have an ATI/AMD video card, you may want to avoid this release or read carefully before attempting to use the new release.

Texture Compression

A new feature was added to help those with lower end graphics cards, those with less video RAM. Just as textures are compressed for downloading to save on bandwidth and storage space, so too are textures compressed as they are placed into video RAM.

If your card has less then 512mb of video ram, compression will be turned on by default.  If you have an ATI video card, keep it turned off.

Preferences->Graphics->Hardware settings.
