I don’t know what has happened with the SL News post for 2014-10-3. It simply will not publish in a readable form. I am experimenting to see if I can find the problem. I may try publishing it in pieces.
Slink’s Visage Timing
There has been a bit of miscommunication… The release is today. Depending on where you live today is different than expected. The release is apparently midnight Friday. Or as many of us would say Saturday morning. :/
I didn’t catch that when researching and reading.
The Slink show room is packed today, Friday. The group is very chatty today also. People are looking forward to the release.
Second Life News 2014-10-3
I was hooking up a friend’s Netflix yesterday so I missed the Beta Server User Group meeting. Visio is not my favorite TV. Whatever, this morning I am reading the meeting transcript. We have good news on Group Ban. Also, there are some serious inventory loss problems afoot. See the heading WARNING.
Servers
We know the main channel got the ‘infrastructure’ update previously running on the Blue Steel and Le Tigre. Users are unlikely to see any change.
RC Channels
Magnum remained on the AISv3 project, inventory API changes for bake fail solutions. This needs the Sunshine RC Viewer to be experienced. The Linens were doing a pile-on test Wednesday.
WARNING
Tankmaster Finesmith is pointing out they have seen some inventory loss in Magnum/Sunshine. He says there are some JIRA entries popping up as people report having lost all their inventory. Alexa Linden is said to be investigating the issue.
Visage Coming to Second Life

Bits of the announcement started coming out in February 2014. We’ll get the full story tomorrow, Friday. But, it appears to be a mesh head along the lines of Slink hands and feet, but more fun.
Second Life News 2014-10 #2
There are a couple of new RC Viewers out now.
Voice Viewer version 3.7.3.287288 – This RC Viewer pulls in Vivox 4.6.x libraries instead of the 4.5 libraries for improved stability and to address reported issues. If you are having voice problems, try this viewer.
Sunshine Viewer version 3.7.3.287158 – This is a promotion of the Project Viewer 3.7.1.286565. The release notes say it had improved stability and retry capabilities for Server Side Avatar baking. It should be able to better detect ‘stuck’ conditions and clear them so the avatar will render.
