Update 2015/10: Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF) is replacing Webkit, the engine MOAP uses. Media should now be HTML5 compatible. Avoid Flash & QuickTime. Click the CEF Tag below this article for more information.
I’m just learning, so this is not the most complete tutorial on Media On A Prim (MOAP). This is what I have learned in my first few steps. Hopefully it will save you a few gotcha’s. Also, this is not a newbie’s tutorial. I’m assuming you know basic building. But, even if you are new, you should be able to stumble through this tutorial without much trouble.

There are now examples of what MOAP (Media On A Prim) can do. Linden Lab is billing the SLPro! conference as a coming annual event… or whatever cycle they decide. At this one they have people showing what they could do with MOAP. You can read their blog post: Residents Show Off Their Skills at SLPro! Visit the exhibits in: Media Sandbox West.
And another view hits the streets… See the 5/1/10 Update. Imprudence did not advance as much as some of the other viewers did. However, it is still a favorite for those on the OpenSIM grids. You can see the Imprudence Release Notes. You can download Imprudence Viewer. The Imprudence Viewer Review is Imprudence 1.3 beta 1 Released.

Update 3/5/10: Many people are reporting much worse performance with 2.0. This has to do with Texture Memory, a graphics setting. See links below for more info.
The viewer is out and people are playing with it. I’ve had some time to use the viewer. There are things I like and things that really suck. I believe the adoption of this viewer as the standard Second Life viewer will push many longer time residents to use third party viewers.
