Second Life and Virtual Worlds
Many of us are unhappy with the change in Linden Lab’s® Terms of Service (TOS) for Second Life™ and other Linden services. For those that want to know what steps they can take, join the United Content Creators of SL’s (UCCSL) in world group.
The UCCSL recently sent another letter to the Lab and sent out a note card to residents with the steps an SL resident can take to help effect a change in the TOS. I have posted a copy of the text:
Ciaran Laval has an article up, Kitely’s New Pricing Structure, that explains how Kitely pricing changed January 1. Most of the blogs I have read describe the pricing structure as confusing. Ciaran does a good job of explaining the pricing mess. After reading Ciaran’s article it isn’t all that bad.
Few bloggers provide anything other than the raw gross cost comparisons between gris. That comparison makes Second Life™ pricing look really bad. But, it is easy to make raw monthly cost comparisons.
I figure visitors don’t really care about the region owner’s cost. Only those that want a region care. Those operating businesses or trying to sell goods in a grid would care, if they understood free markets… which may not be that many.

The podcast is presented on the blog in an Adobe Flash Player. So, iPhone, Android, and other device users will run into a problem. But, the audio is in MP3 format. So, it is possible to listen on your device, if you know how to get the URL: Drax Download.
My Android gives me a choice to download or play the MP3 file. The Android player works fine with the MP3 file.
Torley Linden provides the introduction, way neat. I’ve always enjoyed Torley’s bubbly personality. This cast has primarily Drax and Jo along with excerpts from others interviewed by Drax. The web page provides a bit of an index to the audio podcast and a load of interesting related links. I’ve added time marks to my index.
There is a quick little tutorial on how to bake a specular highlight into a texture on YouTube. I like it because it uses the Blender Nodes.

This is a blog with great images taken from Second Life. It is, as the name suggests, about fashion. But, the images are gorgeous. See: SL Fashion.

Recently we have seen a number of people complaining about getting disconnected, repeatedly. No one has determined if it is an SL problem or just problems local to the users being disconnected.
The main release SL Viewer today is: 3.6.12-284506. I expect that to change this week.

There is an interesting thread over on SLUniverse. Imagin Illyar started Avatar Evolution and posted images of her avatar from 2008 to 2013. It is an interesting progression.
