Second Life and Virtual Worlds
Now that the SL Forum is back we are getting the Deploy notices.
There was no update on the main channel this Tuesday. Wednesday the RC channels got a new package. This in the same line as previous packages:
We can assume that previous logging is leading to places where code can be optimized and processes improved. But, we aren’t hearing much more than that.
Who knows? The Second Life blog/forum is still off line. There is no ETA for its return. Every week or so they post in Grid Status about it being down. Duh! And that it is taking longer than expected to get it going. The excuse is they want to be sure they get it right… the post must be written by a former politician… They blew the time estimate. Software developers ALWAYS run into unexpected problems.
The Grid status seems to be on automatic so, update or not it tells us there is an update. My region device tells me the main channel region I live in has not restarted since 2/24. So, no roll to main channel today (Tuesday) as of 10 AM SLT/PT.
This week (Tuesday) the main channel is not being updated or restarted. The RC channels are getting an update and that requires a restart.

The Release Notes list some improvements and a known bug.
There seems to be a change in the Server updates side of things. Mazidox Linden is now writing the Deploys notice in the SL forum and conducting the Server Beta UG meeting. I like his style in handling the meeting.
The main channels are being restarted today. But, just restarted. No new package.
The RC channels will get a new package. But, as today is the first working day of this week, Mazidox did not have the release notes for the new package. We should see that later… today? this week?
No new stuff from the Server/Scripting UG. There is no roll out to the main channel this week. Nor to the RC channels. However the RC channels are being restarted. Expect a new RC package next week. There just isn’t much news this last week. There was no Server-Scripting (Tuesday), Content Creators (Bento – Thursday), or Sever Beta (Thursday) user group meetings. Seems the Lindens are tasked with being at internal meetings this week. Or… they are out protesting Trump…
We do have a new RC Viewer in Alternate Viewers, the Second Life Love Me Render Viewer version 5.0.2.323361.
