Imprudence to Kokua Changeover

An announcement has been posted on the Imprudence Blog that the weekend of November 21 they will be changing to their new name, Kokua. They say this will mean the Imprudence web site will be down. I suppose gone is more accurate.

Related sites like the forum, wiki, and download will remain up but it is unclear which URL will get you to them and when. However, they plan to implement domain forwarding so you should end up in the right place.

They say the login ID/passwords for the forum and wiki will remain the same. If you use ‘Remember Me’ cookies to login, those are going to break. Domain name changes do that. You should probably check that you still know your password.

Imprudence Experimental Viewer 2010-11-13

Imprudence Viewer

Imprudence Viewer

The Imprudence team has a new Experimental Viewer version out, 11/13. They have announced this version has many significant changes. I’ll touch on those I think significant. You can get all the details here: Imprudence Experimental Release: 2010.11.13

Installing

I suggest you manually clear the cache after installing and before you attempt to run the viewer. Failing to manually clear the cache can drive the viewer to 100% CPU and Not Responding.

On Windows you MUST have QuickTime installed.  Continue reading

Imprudence to Kokua Clarification

It is not surprising many are interested in the coming Kokua Viewer and somewhat confused. Whether it be this or that and did you mean… So the Imprudence peeps have put up a new blog post. It is a very well written set of FAQ answers.

See: FAQs about Kokua

Even more clarification…

11/10 – It seems the Imprudence team got ahead of things. The Aurora Simulator is not going to change name, in spite of that being announced. So, it will be the Kokua Viewer and the Aurora Simulator. See Imprudence statement.

Also, while people are setting up Aurora Simulators and they previously did work on OSGrid recent changes on the OSGrid seems to have downed the Aurora sim’s connected to OSGrid. No one seems sure of what happened. But Artemis Tesla and I could not find any operational Aurora sims today, not that we know where they are all located or have any inside information. Our best authority said,”[02:59 PM]  Simpy Merryman: all aurora regions are offline including the mega and trolls – due to the fact that Aurora is currently not working with the latest core upgrade….

Imprudence Viewer Morphs into KoKua Viewer

The End of Imprudence Viewer

Today the Imprudence peeps announced that they are moving to the next stage of their viewer and naming it the KoKua Project. Kokua is a Hawaiian word meaning mutual assistance or helping out. Those formerly known as the Imprudence peeps got the KoKua name from Hamlet Au, the editor of New World Notes blog.

Version 1.4 of Imprudence Viewer will be the last. For now it is being developed in parallel with Kokua. The 1.4 version is planned for release late November or early December. Then all development will shift to the KoKua Viewer.  Continue reading

Imprudence Experimental Release: 2010.10.23

A new Experimental Viewer is out. The big feature addition in this viewer is Qarl’s Alignment Tool. \o/ Yay!!! I have an alignment tool I can use in OSGrid. Hopefully it will make it to SL viewers. There we have Prim Docker (pay for tool) a way better (but not as easy to use) alignment tool, so alignment is already possible and the new tool is not so important in SL.

The Imprudence page has the release notes. Release 2010.10.23

Alignment Tool

Using the tool is easy and intuitive. Make yourself some prims of different sizes. This is about learning so irregular sizes will let you better see what is happening.

To use the tool notice the Align choice between Edit linked parts and Select faces to texture. Click it and the alignment tool is active. Select the prims you want to align. It is not necessary to link the prims.

It is easy to see how the tool works than describe it. Try it, you’ll love it. Mikey did.

Imprudence Viewer Experimental 2010.10.17

Even if you are not an Imprudence user this is an important read.

The Imprudence team has a new release of the Experimental (Imprudence beta) viewer out. The building tools in Imprudence continue to improve. Also the Imprudence site is doing a good job of listing the changes in each new release. Rather than repeat that information here I think I’ll just touch on the changes I find interesting.

The Imprudence Viewer download and information.  Continue reading
