Myst Games Information
Every so often Cyan is giving us an update on their new game. In less than two weeks the Kickstarter project has funded $628k of the targeted $1,100k. During that time we’ve now got eight updates on the project. The eighth update tells us we are already playing the Obduction game… or can be.
An email I received says:
Obduction has already begun! We’re not talking about the Kickstarter campaign, or even the game production – the actual gameplay has started.

By now you have to know I am a Myst fan. Myst was the first non-violent computer game I got to play. This article is about some of the goings on related to Myst and the company that made the game: Cyan Inc. I am seeing more activity from them recently, meaning this year. In this economy and considering their past belt tightening I think this suggests a change is starting to become apparent. But, only time will tell.
I tend to notice things Cyan and Myst. What I have noticed recently; the Myst Online forum software was updated, a new Cyan Worlds Forum was added that is an umbrella for all the Cyan games/apps, Cyan updated their Cyan Worlds web site, and their Cyan Facebook page is active. Plus there are rumors of a new product that is to be released in September 2013.
For those readers that have come from the Cyan Worlds, Inc. game of Myst Online, there is some news. Cyan is changing some things in regard to their web presence. A few weeks ago they updated the MO:UL forum’s software.
Today I see they are opening a new forum: Cyan Forum. They are also updating their main web site: Cyan.com. The new web site is a responsive design site, meaning it resizes and flows to fit any size screen; mobile, tablet, or desktop. This is much better than the previous Cyan site.
For my Myst friends I’ve made a index and summary of a recent interview with one of the makers of the Myst series of games and Myst Apps.
The interviewee is Rand Miller, the CEO of Cyan Worlds, Inc., the maker of the Myst series, as well as a number of other games. This last Tuesday, July 23, in the DMR’s neighborhood (Myst Online in-game location) at a Cavcon gathering Rand was there to answer some questions.
Cavcon is about fan funding of the servers running the free to play Myst Online: Uru Live.
