50 to 1 Project #50to1

This is another of my articles on climate. If you are intellectually honest, regardless of which side of the debate you are on, this is a must read article linked to a just released video. You’ll either want to be able to refute the points made or understand them for your own use. Either way the information here will likely surprise you because the information in the 50:1 video first stipulates that everything the UN’s IPCC has claimed about climate change, global warming, AGW, whatever you call it today is true. It isn’t, but for the sake of this argument we’ll pretend it is.

Also, there is the matter of the UN’s creation of the term ‘Climate Deniers’ or deniers for short. There is no such person on the planet. When the UN cannot defeat the meat of an argument against the idea of main made climate change they make the ad hominem attack that those presenting the argument are just deniers that ignore all science and the fact that climate is changing. One really should look at who is denying what. But, again for this argument we’ll pretend that all the UN is saying is true.

Project 50 to 1 is a kick starter funded project that used IndieGoGo and direct PayPal donations. Lord Monckton and his foundation provided the initial basic math using the IPCC’s numbers. Those numbers can be found in his paper: Is CO2 mitigation cost-effective? If you are not into math, just watch the video. If you hope to refute the information, you need to deal with the math.

This video was made to support the fund raiser and set out the goals of the main video effort. The final 50:1 video is further down.

You may figure out that the cost of the video is more than just the direct cost of editing and distributing a video. Remember. They traveled to interview some pretty heavy hitters in the climate debate. They were scatter across the world. You can see the individual interviews on the 50 to 1 Project web siteContinue reading

History: 9-11 Boatlift

A friend sent me a link to this in an email. I am surprised I did not know about it. It certainly isn’t something the news media splashed around. The video was made for the tenth anniversary of 9-11.

This is the type of thing free self-reliant people can do. It is the sort of thing government simply cannot organize. This is an example of bottom-up organizing rather than top down. Most people can not comprehend the effectiveness of chaotic systems. Each of us has to decide who we are going to rely on.

The US Coast Guard Commander that issued the radio call for boaters to gather at Governor’s Island is not a part of the political command structure and has no authority over the civilian population. He is part of the Military Command structure where people are taught to act independently and adapt to conditions on the ground.  Continue reading

1,122 Record Cold Temps in the U.S. in One Week

This is the type of story that you don’t see in the mainstream media. It doesn’t fit the agenda. If you haven’t seen any mention of this information, realize you are only getting part of the news and consider finding a more complete news source.

1,122 Record Cold Temps173 Record Warm temps.

Record Breaking Hi & Low Temps - HamWeather.com

Record Breaking Hi & Low Temps – HamWeather.com

View the map on HamWeather.com for the interactive map. Move your cursor over dots to see the previous record. Let me know if you find high records that break records older than 1950. There is at least one: 1940.

If you are well informed about weather and temperature measuring you know that most of the world’s high temperature records were set in the 1930’s. The recording stations with broken records weren’t around in the 1930’s. So, it is sort of cheating to say these are new ‘weather’ records. They are new records for specific stations not the area.

The End of the Internet as We Know It

The recent Snowden leaks have become lost in the debate over whether he is a whistle-blower or a betrayer of his country. As government tries to silence whistle-blowers from Benghazi to NSA-IRS misuses of power by tapping the news medias phones and targeting selected groups they gain more control over citizens.

Few have realized how these scandals are affecting the Internet. Until now the Internet has been controlled by the USA, generally thought to be a freedom loving democracy with a science organization and technical society that could be trusted to live by the US Constitution and keep the Internet free for all.

Snowden has revealed that is not the case. The US government agencies are misusing their authority. Earlier CNN interviews with former counter-terrorism agents in the Boston Bomber case revealed even phone conversations of American citizens not on watch lists were being recorded for future reference.

Preliminary Congressional investigations are showing that security work and data mining are being farmed out to private companies giving thousands of people access to sensitive personal data that could never get a security clearance, which is sort of what happened with Snowden.

The UK’s Guardian has a good article on where all this is leading. See: Edward Snowden’s not the story. The fate of the internet is. The UN has long pushed to have control of the Internet take away from the USA. Since the UN is made up mostly of repressive governments we can easily see what that will lead to. Iran would love to have control of the Internet within Iran as would China. That will mean the end of any hint of free speech and outside news for those countries.

And what will it mean for the USA and Europe?

Who Do You Believe?

We are about to enter another summer of ‘record breaking heat.’ Or are we? Last year all sorts of records for the hottest temperature on record were broken. Or were they? There is a huge amount of misinformation being shoveled out. It is difficult to find out who is providing the information and find the actual data to check who is spinning what. Who is lying, who is telling the truth?

Politicians are hoping people are too lazy and ignorant to catch-on to what is being done. To survive people will supposedly pay any tax.

In 2012 there were 356+ new highest-temperature-on-record claims. By the measure they used, that is true. But, by the same standard of measure there were 10,000+ lowest temperature records set in 2012. Which did you hear about? Were those numbers for the year or for a month or a week? Did you know those records are all on weather stations that have only been in existance since 1947 and later? Did you know that most of the worlds highest temperature records were set in the 1930’s? …and remain unbroken to today?

Either side of the debate can spin the numbers without lying to mislead. For more information on what the facts are and what you will likely be seeing this summer check out IceCap’s Blog article: Just the facts ma’am.

How hot has Death Valley been this year? And in the past? Can we accurately compare today’s temperatures with the 100 year old high of 134°F? The answers, well really questions, are here: Anniversary of Death Valley Highest Temperature. You will start to see some of the problems climatologists deal with. You decide if today’s measurements are accurate or misleading.

Privacy!?!

It seems very few mainstream media organizations are following the privacy scandals in the USA. Honour has a post on what Facebook is doing. See: Second Life, as Idiotic as it Sounds, Gave Me an Illusion of Privacy. She has a good collection of links to prove the points she is making.

The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) is talking in the following video. Colleen Taylor notes that people don’t know what they are giving up or why such data gathering is a big problem. But, she does not explain. If you are not into history and politics, you won’t have a clue what is being given up. So, if you are one of the ones wondering about that… you need to be educating yourself. Fortunately Colleen touches more on those points later in the video (around 16:00).

Only one or two media organizations covered the shocking revelations made on CNN in story by Erin Burnett in her show Outfront. (Clip 1 and Clip 2) Within a couple of weeks all that chatter seems to have been forgotten. Even the EFF seems not to get how extensive the data gathering is. Even Erin seemed to miss the point that the CONTENT of ANY ONE’s calls can be recovered. How do you recover a voice conversation that was not recorded?

Great Post on Attitude

Lette Ponnier has an article up on her blog that is way neat. You may have read her blog recently if you were keeping up with problems in the Firestorm Viewer. The new post, Why We Can’t Have Nice Things, departs from that theme and explains a part of life in Second Life™ that many have yet to figure out.

I encourage you to read this article and bookmark it to give to wackadoodles when you must endure their ignorant ranting… or find you have allowed yourself to be exposed to one and your patience runs out.

Privacy Lost

I am an online type person, so I find this electronic privacy thing highly pertinent to my life style and freedom. Recent events have shown that we have serious challenges in the area of privacy. What Pres. Bush started Pres. Obama has put on steroids. The first 15 minutes of the video is an interesting interview with a mover and shaker in the Electronic Frontier Foundation. The video is non-political, but some may see it as politically biased. The last 15 minutes is about US Patents. If you are interested in Podcasting, the last 15 minutes will be of interest.

Shortly after the Boston Bombing information came out that has started to disappear from the search engines. Just try and find the CNN story by Erin Burnett on Outfront about the phone call between the bomber and his mother. In a May 1st show a former FBI Counter Terrorism states everything electronic is being gathered by the government. (Clip 1 and Clip 2)

While I could find the clips easily a month ago I had to work to find them to get a link for this article. It appears this information is disappearing from search engines.

Since Second Life is international, I will assume that makes any American user… well ANY user of SL a target for NSA.
