Blog Stats

THE CLOCK TOWER

THE CLOCK TOWER by RAFTWET Jewell, on Flickr

A key to knowing what people are interested in reading about are the search terms people use to find a blog. But, things have been changing. Posted by Worldpress:

UPDATE: In September 2013 Google started to rapidly expand the number of searches that it encrypts, which results in a higher proportion of “Unknown search terms” in your stats.  According to some sources, this expansion will eventually result in encryption of all Google searches.  This is being done for privacy reasons by Google when someone searches at Google.com, before a visitor arrives at your WordPress.com site.  Therefore we don’t have any way to unhide the search terms.  We recognize this means a loss of stats information for you and we will look for other ways to show you how users arrived at your site.

Second Life and Flickr Images

There are so many gorgeous images on Flickr. If you look through my favorites, you see the stuff I like. I think it is somewhat diverse. If you want to get your images on my blog or to understand why I use some people’s images and not others, read on.

"Intrigue Co. - Plushie Pals: Friendly the Snail"

A fun Torley Linden Image

Being short on time for writing my blog using images from Flickr saves me time. You have probably noticed lots of my images no longer relate to the article, other than they are from Second Life. Some I do take the time to find a related image. Even then it can be tenuous relationship. I suspect sometimes only my warped mind makes the connection.  Continue reading

Blog Moved

THIS HAS BEEN A FRUSTRATING FEW DAYS. But finally (1/9) it looks like the blog and my other sites have successfully moved to the new server.

Loss

Articles from 12/16 to today have been lost (about 4 posts and a couple of comments). the 15th was my last backup… I probably have drafts of some of them in Word files on my computer. But as most are news and the news is old, I won’t bother to restore those. Continue reading

Busy

I’m busy with RL Work. I probably won’t get to blog much between now and the end of the year. There doesn’t seem to be much going on in SL development. So, I won’t miss much.

Developers are busy, but through the holiday season things seem to move slowly. We should see a Firestorm release soonSTORM-2067Glossy Projectors, a change in how reflections and materials interact is apparently complete and headed through QA and toward release. Along with that change STORM-2056 – Projector reflections do not respect the environment intensity parameter also appears completed.

Experience Tools is moving forward, but not ready for release. The Auto-build tools are near completion, which will mean more stable viewers.

More Group Chat changes are in the works. But, the big improvements have been made. Expect only minor improvements and may be better message error notices.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Nal.

Photo Shoot

Every so often someone surprises me. Mr. S. did when he asked to photograph me. I agreed and it was painless… The results are interesting. I like them.

Mr S. - My Attempt

Mr S. – My Attempt

He got his poses from just the AO I was wearing. I think he did well with the images. You can find them here: Ink and Moon and Information Warrior. His entire stream is here: Mr S./ Bell or Balcony @ Flickr. It is an interesting collection. Check it out.

Blog: Pictures Back

I as posted earlier, I moved the blog and my other sites from a Windows to a Linux server. That borked my image links. I did an SQL REPLACE today To fix ALL the image links in the blog. They should all be appearing now. Please let me know if you see any that are not displaying.

The Move

I am mostly moved into my new place, boxes still everywhere and it seems whatever I need at the moment is in a box at the bottom of a stack. But, the Internet is up and while AT&T’ U-verse is only 3mb/sec here, Second Life runs with no apparent loss of performance.

California’s weather decided to imitate Florida’s. So, 80-90F (32C) with 80-90% humidity and showers the last day of the move. Friends helped but I am still sore from lifting and carrying and tired. We partied Friday night.

I crushed my 7 month old S4 phone during the move. :/ So, I was totally without tech for a day. That was an expensive mistake/accident. But, I got a new S5, which is supposed to have a better camera. I did NOT like the S4’s camera. I haven’t decided if the S5’s is better, yet.

Now, to get unpacked and do some catching up on Second Life.

Moving

For the next 10 days or so I’ll be moving. I don’t know when my office will be back up. I’m moving from country life, as much as California has such a thing, into a small college town (50k 2010). Still inland San Diego area and I’ll have larger towns around me. Unfortunately no fiber optics, so I’ll be going with ATT Uverse wireless. I have no idea how well that will or won’t work. But, vacancy rates are 3% in SD just now. So, while I didn’t get what I want, I at least found something.

I won’t be in world much during the move. Nor will I be posting as my system will be down. I’ll have to see how the move goes before I’ll know when I’ll be back online.
