KirstenLee says this version of the viewer has many big changes in user interface, user interface useability, performance improvements, memory leak fixes, group chat fixes, and more.

The multi-layer clothes feature is now hard coded in… This is the feature that allows one to wear like 5 shirts layers. Torley has a video tutorial on this new feature. Basically the last layer added goes on top. Any layer can be made the top layer by removing it and adding it back.

More after I get to use it this weekend… I’ve got whatever it is that is going around… So, I’m not getting much done.

This release is mostly about stability. Not much new to talk about.

I’ve gotten to use this version for several hours now. It seems more stable than my SL 2.1 and Emerald 2439. I’ve been visiting high lag places (NWN’s popular places) and it does pretty good. The LL servers seem to be having problems. Everyone is complaining of lag (8/7 AM SLT).

Today I see Kirsten has a new S20 (30) release out. I’ll get around to trying it out later today.

Update 7/29 – I got to use the viewer. It has a really nice render. Things look better than normal.

There are several under the hood improvements. No black screens as I change settings. I only had to re-log once as I tried out the shadows settings. Plus I have a tiny bit better FPS rate.

The search dialog has been fixed so Classified ads show now. I actually use that from time to time. Search has changed. The search modifiers in the drop down list have changed to four tabs; Search, Events, Destination Guide, and Classifieds. The Maturity settings look like they can be enabled in search, they can’t. One has to enable them in Preferences -> [General]. One can then disable and enable Maturity classes for any search.

Kirsten’s viewer is a rapidly changing and is a bleeding edge viewer. Things that worked well in a previous version may not work in the latest version. Also, the default install process sometimes works well and sometimes it does not work so well. So, knowing the tricks and gotcha’s is essential for those using Kirsten’s Viewer.

Kirsten released a new viewer version today… well yesterday now that I’ve been playing with it for hours. I’m always eager to see Kirsten and Emerald releases. Mac users can use this release too.
