This is a busy month with Pride celebrations and SL23B. Lots to see and do.
Official SL Platform Updates
- June 8, 2026: Linden Lab announced fee adjustments, including reduced land tier prices for many Private region types (effective June 15), lower minimum L$ purchase fees, changes to LindeX transaction fees, and increased Premium membership subscription fees (effective for new/renewed subs from July 8). These aim to make land more affordable while expanding membership value.
- Ongoing: SL23B celebrations (June 18–July 19) highlighted platform aspects through “Meet the Lindens” sessions, including discussions on engineering challenges like performance/rendering, OpenGL-to-modern API transitions, region crossings, WebRTC voice, and upcoming Lua scripting.
Simulator / Grid Updates
- June 12 & 25: Simulator releases with routine maintenance and rolling restarts.
- Grid Stability: Multiple rolling restarts. L$ transaction issues around June 25–26 (investigated and fixed). World Map region name display issues in some TPVs addressed.
Viewer Releases
- Official Viewer: Default 26.2.0.25386466510 (May promotion). Lua Editor Alpha unchanged.
- Third-Party:
- Kirstens Viewer S24(7) – June 28.
- Cool VL Viewer updates – June 27.
- Firestorm 7.2.4 overview earlier in month.
- Firestorm just released their Beta(64) 7.2.5 (81269) Jun 30 2026. I am playing with it.
- Ayastorm – I’ve been using Ayastorm r31.2 (based on FS 7.2.4 build 261492019), released May 30 2026, on and off this month, mostly on. The renders are nice. No problems with the viewer.
Mobile & Other Enhancements
- SL Mobile Learning Centre: Interactive tutorial experiences for new mobile users (space vessel theme). Strong feedback.
Grid / Performance Fixes
Routine maintenance; temporary L$ transaction disruption resolved.
Social or Community Changes
- SL23B (June 18–July 19, “Golden Age of Hollywood” theme): Major celebrations with Pride events, 600+ live music performances, Shop & Hop with 480+ merchants, Golden Ticket giveaways, and Meet the Lindens sessions.
Upcoming Events in July 2026
- SL23B continues through July 19.
- Trust & Safety User Group (July 21) on phishing/security.
- Routine user groups as expected.
Summary Note
No major new technology feature deployments. Focus on stability, fees, mobile onboarding, and anniversary community activities. Lua and graphics modernizations in pipeline.
