Second Life Bits 2018 w10

Daniel Voyager has an article on some new regions appearing on the grid. The region names start with “Elemenoh”. They appeared in Tyche Sheppard’s latest grid survey. According to Daniel, they are inaccessible by the typical Second Life™ user. I tried. I couldn’t get in.

So, we know something is up. What is yet to be determined. The Lindens are not talking.

New Region Hygge – March 2018

The Grid Survey is interesting. There are 75 ‘new’ regions, some of those (20) are ‘renamed’ existing regions. Have you tried visiting those ‘new’ regions?

I started visiting the regions on the list. A few are private homes. Many are no access. Presumably closed during construction. A number are for land rental, apartments, houses and yards, skyboxes, and etc. Another group is the gaming regions. A few are empty.

Some of the private home areas are gorgeous.

In general, there isn’t much to see or do. Lots of effort for little reward.

Support Hours – Did you notice? On Monday, February 26th, Premium and Concierge Live Chat services as well as Concierge Phone Supports operating hours changed. The new hours are
9:00AM EST – 6:00PM EST (6:00AM PST – 3:00PM PST), 7 days a week.

Of course, support ticket submission remains available 24 x 7.

It seems odd that support closes just as Second Life reaches its max concurrent users for the day… o.O

Scripting – If you write scripts for Second Life™, you’ll be interested in the new update of the LSL Editor, an open source development tool.

The release notes tell us,

v.2.56.0 released.

So, it seems added functionality is for OpenSim scripting.

The previous release was made in 2013. I don’t do as much scripting as I once did. So, I haven’t tried to script using the functions added to Second Life between 2013 and 2018. I suspect the tool is way out of date in regard to SL functions.
