Oz Linden in the Third Party Developers’ meeting mentioned that the Tools Update Viewer made it to main viewer status. That means the Lab is now fully committed to building viewers with VS2013.
Since the Tools viewer got promoted the main viewer is less crashy then previous versions 2% less. That is a significant improvement. While 2% may sound like a small number, it is a significant improvement.
Oz Linden pointed out that he is still very unhappy with even the improved crash rates. So, they will be continuing to work on improved performance and stability.
This coming week (18) all the RC and Project viewers will get updated to the current main release code and be compiled with the Build Tools. This includes the Oculus Viewer, which has been stalled on version 3.7.18.295296 for weeks.
Personally I am finding the RC Layer Limits Viewer 3.7.28 (301019) more prone to crashing than any viewer I’ve used for some time. It keeps poofing on me. But it is an RC version.
