AviewTV Opens Newly Renovated Machinima Gallery: Eight Films Featured

You can find the gallery in world at: AviewTV Machinima Gallery. The following is a press release I received.

AviewTV, the one-stop machinima resource of Second Life, is opening its brand new renovated gallery this week, featuring eight unique films from some of SL’s most dynamic creators, a new focus on machinima career options, more hands-on project development, film festival networking and an awareness mission to relate the importance of new media to virtual worlds in the fields of arts preservation and mainstream media accessibility.

According to AviewTV CEO LaPiscean Liberty, ‘Machinima in virtual worlds, has had an impact on the cost of production and processing. Its relationship to virtual worlds is one of archiving delicate or lost art, due to an ever changing canvas. This has also lead to one of SL’s greatest marketing tools as a platform and for the community to engage within mainstream media. The goal is to promote the Artist and the Art’.

AviewTV consistently maintains a diverse catalog of virtual world movies, works from an array of talented directors in every genre, that are showcased on a well-organised website and immersive, inworld facility. Within Second Life, residents can explore the AviewTV Machinima Gallery and discover films for every taste. The newly renovated gallery sorts the films into categories and is designed to encourage expansion into new, sometimes under recognized realms of machinima content, such as Video Poetry, Fashion Films and Commercial Spots.

The new gallery features eight Viewing Rooms, each with a new highlighted film from each of the categories, surrounded by walls of older, archived films. Plans to expand with new categories and to encourage content submissions in specific categories are part of the gallery agenda.

The Eight featured films included in the renovated debut are:

  1. Time by: Chic Aeon, an exploration of incredibly immersive art installations in Second Life
  2. In Dreams also by Chic Aeon, an enchanting video poem
  3. The Unveiling, an atmospheric action film byAbrosia Lanley
  4. The Particle Show, a mesmerizing piece about dancer Spectgr3 Belfire by Mary Wickentower
  5. The Jazzologist Strikes Back, a hilarious parody by Miles Eleventhauer
  6. Dejavu, a concert film by director FuzOnAcid featuring Bowie Bravin & Diawa Bellic
  7. Frankenstein Story, a journey into the macabre from directorTommaso Jacobus
  8. A Year Of Fashion by Tikaf Viper, a tour de force that sets a standard for fashion film machinima.

‘Part of the mission is to facilitate increased awareness of machinima as a career option, and as a medium to explore new opportunities in areas perhaps not previously considered in traditional film. With the virtual word arrives new ways to perceive and to experience. Machinima creators can be pioneers in this’, asserts Ginette Pinazzo, Marketing and Public Relations Director for AviewTV.

The renovated gallery also features Machinima Trivia Tables, where visitors can test their knowledge, and a movie review system to allow more input from residents. AviewTV will continue to host events such as film premieres and industry mixers to promote a more dynamic and interactive virtual film production experience.
