Windows 10 Update Week 21

The expected release is summer of this year. You can get preview copies of Win10 now. To qualify you are supposed to be a member of Windows Insiders.

You can find out more about the current release here: Windows 10-10122.

Those running it and Second Life™ are having problems. It is hard to tell what is going on as I can only find bits and pieces of people’s conversations as they try to resolve problems.

I am holding off going for Windows 10 until more people are using it with Second Life.

Windows 10 will be a free update and the last NUMBERED version of Windows. I have mixed feelings about that. My phone recently updated and I hated the result. All sorts of things that worked well where changed. Buttons I r4ecognized changed appearance and location. Very annoying. I am a year from being able to root my phone and take control of it.

I suspect we will start to see many of the same things happen with Microsoft’s incremental updates to Win10. While I look forward to Win10, it is with some trepidation too.

  1. I’ve been running the Win 10 preview since it first became available. Everything has been running perfectly for me until the latest update (10122); the glitch I have while running 10122 is the mouse pointer is not properly aligned with items I need to click on on the screen. For instance, if I want to place my cursor in the local chat text box I have to aim my mouse pointer at a menu selection (like the x in the upper right corner of a window to close that window) I have to point about slightly above the x (like 2 x’s above) to highlight the x so I can click and close the window. I’ve tried total clean installs and every other fix but it’s the same. this happens in both Firestorm AND all LL viewers.

  2. Using ctr+shift mouse to navigate the screen was causing me issues while using Firestorm and Windows 10. I’ve found that by opening the debug menu in Firestorm and setting the “DisableMouseWarp” setting to “True” most of the issues were resolved. I hope this can be of some help to others.

    Cheerz!
