Zindra Alliance and the Naughty Snowman

The Zindra area of Second life is the adult continent. Adult does not mean its XXX, but it may. So, along comes the Naughty Snowman. This is an annual winter event. In past years it has been for Zindra residents only. That MAY change this year. The residents of Zindra are planning the event now.

The event features snowmen made by residents. Votes are taken for the best snowman. Whether there will be a prize or one just gets bragging rights is yet to be determined. Want to sponsor a prize?

Adult Content News Week 41

I like to write positive and informative articles. Adult Content should be fun. I also think Adult Content is a popular …item?… in Second Life. After all sex sells and meeting people is a major recreational activity. Just look at the online dating sites. I’ve long thought SL could be a new level in the Facebook and eHarmony type dating game. But, I have yet to see the Lab get a handle on Adult Content and take the sexual aspects of SL in a positive direction. They have yet to figure out how to move from escorts and hookers to matchmaking, casual hookups, and romance. So, I am rather negative when it comes to the Lab’s management of Adult Content.

It seems no agenda items found their way to Viale Linden, the Adult Content User Group (ACUG) facilitator, this week. You may or may not know agenda items are now handled by Viale via email now. The email address is on the Ault Content User Group’s agenda page…

Meeting Schedule Changes

The meeting time shifted from 11 AM to 10 AM SLT/PDT. Also this was the last weekly meeting. Meetings will now be bi-weekly. The next meeting is 10/24.

SL Adult Content News

I may come across negative in this coverage as I’m frustrated with the ACUG (Adult Content User Group) meetings. I’ve had my tail chewed for wasting people’s time in meetings (RL) I lead and allowing the meeting to wonder.  So, I find the ACUG frustrating. But, we did get some news.

Proposal

This was the meeting at which we where to hear who’s Gateway Proposal was accepted. One was accepted. We have a winner. But, it cannot be announced until Viale Linden has had time to work out things and get possible preparation work done. So… we wait another week.

We are told the gateway will be larger than just the Zindra region.

Viale is saying this will then become a community project and the Lindens will not lead it. Right.

Also, he said about the Gateway Proposal winner, ” They are pros at welcoming residents to the adult community and SL in general.” I find that rather scary considering SL’s record of poor player retention.

Second Life Adult Content Week 39

Adult Welcome Areas

The proposals for what to do with the Adult Welcome Areas are to be in by September 30. Viale Linden says if things go well he will advise us as to the winning proposal (Proposal Reference) Monday the 5th.  That should make for an interesting meeting. If not the week after.

Viale says only a handful of proposals have been received.

Destination Guide

Reports are coming in from those people that have gotten entries into the Destination Guide. Some are saying their traffic has doubled. In last week’s article I provided information about getting your region into the DG.

I’ve added DG information to the User Group page and to the Zindra page.

#SL Adult Content News Week 38

The last couple of meetings in the Adult Content User Group have improved. The meetings are moving forward and usable information is being provided. There are several new things that are pretty interesting, especially to those with land in Zindra.

Hopefully by now you know Zindra is the name of the Adult Continent. There is also a region named Zindra.

RFP for Adult Content Gateway

I think it is pretty well established and agreed that people have trouble finding things in Second Life. This has been a particular problem in the Adult Content community. While one can use search and the Destination Guide, that still leaves the problem of people not Adult Verified.

Second Life Adult Content Week 32-33

It is hard to know what to say about the Adult Content group. I think since sex sells and sells other things as well the adult content in Second Life has the biggest possibility for increasing player retention. Understand it is not the escort services or hookers that I think will keep players coming back… I suppose it will draw some. But, it is the excitement and anticipation in meeting new people in an environment with a sexually charged edge that entices people. The adult content I’m thinking of is not the hookers on a street corner. It is adult things like eHarmony, nice night clubs, church-based social functions and all the other fun, safe, meeting places.

It seems some level of the Lindens have recognized adult content has possibilities and are attempting to shift perceptions to take advantage of it. But, I’ve never been able to figure out from the Lindens’ discussion and comments what they are trying for. I’ve had to make the above mentioned assumptions and work some ideas out for myself to put a frame around their goals. I have no clue if I’ve gotten it right. But, maybe.

Second Life Adult Content Update Week 28, 29, 30

Two weeks ago I went to my first Adult Content User Group (ACUG) meeting. You may know that Blondin Linden was in charge of the group. In previous days it was thought of as Blondin’s office hour. But, Blondin has left Linden Lab and Office Hours are converting to User Groups. This has left the Adult Content group in apparent disarray, IMO. There are some things happening and moving forward. I’ve listed those things I find interesting and that may be useful to you.

Week 28

Viale Linden chaired the meeting. The previous week various group members were providing the new chair and other Lindens information on past agreements, plans, and requests.

There was some confusion has to how things were to be placed on the meeting’s agenda. That seems to be an ongoing problem with this group. It does not seem to have been resolved in 3 weeks. Whatever the case…

Second Life’s Zindra Community

We don’t hear much about Zindra, at least I don’t. Zindra is the adult continent of Second Life, sort of a red-light or Amsterdam area. It is actually far more than that. Since June of 2009, when founded, to now it has more than doubled in size growing to 343 regions. Comparing Zindra’s growth with the overall growth of Second Life regions (see: Second Life and OpenSim Stats), which is slowly shrinking, it is rather impressive growth. But, what is going on in Zindra? No… no… other than that.

Zindra Continent in 2009 and Now

Zindra Community

Once upon a time there was a Zindra Residents’ Group and an Adult Content Group. Only the Adult Content group has an office hour meeting. The Zindra interests are folded into that meeting. Changing the meeting to perhaps two groups/meetings or reorganizing how it is handled is under consideration.
