The virus was transmitted via infiltration of the ASUS update system. As the system provides Certified patches most anti-virus programs failed to detect it. So, you may have updated and opened the doors without your AV warning you.
This story started breaking 3/25/2019. ASUS and anti-virus companies have been working on this since January 2019. ASUS has responded with ASUS response to the recent media reports regarding ASUS Live Update tool attack by Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) groups. They have a repair tool for the problem on that page.

The main channel will stay on version #19.03.07.525089. No roll. Last week the main channel updated and is now running EEP support. So, those with non-EEP viewers are seeing black blocky stars. A fix is coming for that. I think… We may just get the EEP viewer as the main viewer.
Blue Steel & Le Tigre update to version #19.03.22.525531. This version has Internal Fixes and switches off UDP asset APIs. If you are using a reasonably recent viewer, like updated in the last 12 to 18 months, you should not notice a change. Older viewers may stop fetching assets and since most everything in SL is an asset… including everything an avatar wears… some people may just be a particle cloud… to their self.
