Server

The main channel got an update today (Tuesday). This is the package that ran on the RC channels the previous week. With the changes:

  • Follow up to fix BUG-3286 “Can’t move object” fail notifications
    • More cosmetic fixes pending
  • Enhanced logging
  • Minor internal server enhancements

And Simon Linden told us there were fixes to chat IM’s. Those may have been made in parts of the backend of the system and not in the server/simulator. Hard to know.

At least the entire grid is getting a restart.

Viewers

Second Life Maintenance Viewer version 5.0.2.323359 – This viewer version has updated (2/3) since last week, 5.0.1.323027. The Lindens have had the weekend to see how the viewer is doing. No word out from them yet. This viewer is expected to be the next main viewer. We just don’t know when.

Inara has a good review of this viewer. See: Second Life Maintenance RC viewer 5.0.2.323359. There are features in this version that are hidden in the list of JIRA fixes. So, check out Inara’s coverage.

Second Life Project 360 Snapshot Viewer version 4.1.3.321712 – This viewer version is on hold while the Lindens work on getting the 64-bit Alex Ivy viewer to RC stage.

Second Life Project Alex Ivy Viewer version 5.1.0.501863 – No update on this version. The Lab was working on resolving a couple of issues they feel need to be solved before they update it. So, as of today, we don’t know when that might happen.

There is no Server/Scripting UG this week. So, no additional news from that meeting.

Skill Gaming

The Lab has updated their policy on skill games. They say, “As of today, Skill Gaming Operator applications are being closed.” So, it appears the Lab feels they have enough game operators.

They also said, “Though applications for Operators are now closed, you can still apply as a Skill Gaming Creator with the application process available on the FAQ page.” So, it is still possible to build skill game machines and sign up as a creator.

See: An Important Update to the Skill Gaming Application Process.
