The main channel got the RC package Tuesday. This is another of those packages with “minor internal” changes.

The RC channels got a new package too. The release notes tell us:

• Adds Feature: BUG-6377 llGetObjectDetails(id,[OBJECT_ATTACHED_SLOTS_AVAILABLE])
• Adds Feature: BUG-40871 Add new llGetEnv() constant “region_object_bonus”
• Internal Changes

These features haven’t made it to the wiki yet. They are at this point beta versions of the functions. The SLOTS_AVAILABLE item is for those working with Experiences. It is handy to know if an avatar has used up all the attachment slots before trying to attach something else to the avatar.

I’m not up to date on region_object_bonus. I am guessing it has to do with the new prim limits.

Viewers

The new main viewer as of this week is the Bento Viewer version 5.0.0.321958. Early last week the Bento RC Viewer was version 5.0.0.321760. Late in the week we got an update. That is the one now being distributed as the main viewer.

As of 4:30 PM Tuesday RC Second Life Bento Viewer version 5.0.0.321958 was still on the Alternate Viewers page. Expect it to disappear tomorrow.

I expect Firestorm to update within the next 2 weeks. They do have a preview version with Bento support. You can join the Firestorm Preview Group to get a copy now.

Several other third party viewers have already updated. Black Dragon just did an update to add Bento support. It is hard to keep track of which viewers do and don’t have Bento support. Cool VL Viewer has an experimental version with Bento support. Singularity and Alchemy haven’t said anything about Bento support. Kokua hasn’t said anything since September.

RC Second Life Maintenance Viewer version 4.1.3.321792 – This is a new RC viewer that wasn’t out last Tuesday. This release has a couple dozen fixes. Release Notes

Second Life Project 360 Snapshot Viewer version 4.1.3.321712 – This version was out last week. It is unlikely to change before January 2017. Programmers are pushing to get the Linden 64 bit viewer out. Until we see the 64-bit viewer release in project status, we likely won’t see any updates to 360.

There is a gotcha in the 360 viewer. If you have trouble getting it to take pictures, reduce the image resolution.

Web Site

We don’t get a lot of information about what is happening with the web sites supporting Second Life. But, Monday we got a post giving a list of recent changes to the sites.
