What is going on with NoR?

Yesterday I got the content of NoR Management’s main message published. There were questions asked and answered at the meeting. Since this is a free form spontaneous DARK role play (RP) game (RPG) taking place in a post apocalyptic world with combat, demons, angles, vampires, lycans, humans and more mixed together…  there is drama, in and out of character. And the meeting did devolve into drama as most RP things do. But, we did get some answers to questions.

There are always those that have an issue with a game’s moderators and managers. NoR is no exception. Plus there are those that have left a game for whatever reason with some rage quitting, that have an axe to grind. Often those, people go to other games or even start other games. Even NoR is an example of such a split. A disagreement with the makers of previous Game Meters lead to NoR being formed to use a different style and brand of meter.

Once in a new game ther is often some sour grapes being eaten and some sense of competition. Of course some find a game that fits them better and blame the previous GM’s for not having made the game to fit them.

Over the years NoR has changed meters several times. The drama around each change is considerable. Every time those dissatisfied with management were there to have their say. This time was no exception.  Charges range from lying, promoting child avatar sex, theft of RL $, stupidity, incompetence, and probably some others I am forgetting.

The only charge that sticks is lying and that is more a case of lying by omission. I am certain the motivation for lying wasn’t malevolent, but from fear. Most humans tell lies because they fear what might come from telling the truth. In the end it boils down to management being afraid they would lose too many players, if they told the truth.

So, what have they said that is the truth? That Luxa Budan’s account was closed due to inactivity…

Rand Linden updated the SL Knowledge Base (2012) article on Accounts Overview. In it we find:

Inactive or canceled accounts

As long as you’re in good standing with Linden Lab (not delinquent with billing or otherwise in violation of the Community Standards and Terms of Service) your Second Life account can remain inactive indefinitely. This means that your avatar and inventory will continue to be stored on the Second Life servers.

So, while there have been rumors of accounts being culled over the years, there is no automated or other system that cleans out inactive accounts.
