Second Life Reddit

I have spent some time on Reddit. I used to regularly post on Reddit, but not so much any more. I see people talking about how handy Reddit is. Some say it leads visitors to their blog. Daniel Voyager in his article titled: Second Life on reddit says, “…it’s a very good way to get the latest Second Life news…”

So, I was wondering just how popular Reddit is. I needed to find some stats. It took a bit of looking but I did come up with them.

A quick look at them shows who most of the posters are. The far left site is Inara’s modemworld.wordpress.com. The web page chopped off the name.

I stopped posting to Reddit about 3 months ago. I am still the 5th most prolific poster to the ‘subreddit Second Life.’ That starts to suggest to me that this subsection of Reddit may not be as popular as the overall Reddit.

I was posting to find more Second Life people and get them interested in my blog. The number of people coming into my site was never more than one or two in a day, according to Google Analytics. Most days no one came in from Reddit. For the number of people finding my site or keeping track of SL via Reddit, it didn’t seem worth the effort.

General Use Stats

I looked at the stats for use of the subreddit SecondLife and they don’t seem very good. You can find the stats for yourself on: http://stattit.com/.

With 1 average submission per day and 1 comment per day it seems rather deserted to me. But, how many people are reading the section?

Daily Users?

Daily Users?

The ‘Users Online’ is ambiguous, at least to me.  Are these concurrent users? I doubt it. Are these unique visitors? Probably. But, maybe not. I suspect it is total daily unique visitors. But, I’m not sure.

Ranking by activity the SecondLife subreddit is the 1,882nd. Pics and funny hold the number 1 and 2 positions.

So, I don’t see Reddit as any big deal for SL users. What do you think?
